Where are my sexy sixes?

Sexy

This past weekend was the Best Weekend Ever and I think it all boiled down to weather. The weather was perfect. Absolute meteorological perfection. 72. No humidity. Light northwesterly breeze. No bugs. Perfection.

We kicked off Friday night by going to see Ironman, and i just have three words: Robert Downey Jr. Yum. (Okay, so I added a fourth.) Although it was a bit violent in spots, I absolutely loved it. So much so, I dreamed I made out with him that night. I recall the following exchange of words: I know you're married, and I'm married, but call me!

Then on Saturday, Cole convinced me to take him and a buddy to see the new Indiana Jones movie. (Yes, my cumulative dollars spent at the AMC Rosedale 14 likely topped $100 with that extra popcorn run halfway through the Crystal Skull. Ouch!) I liked the movie okay. I kept hoping Robert Downey Jr. would show up. (SPOILER ALERT: He does not.)

But perhaps the most memorable moment happened as Cole, his little friend, and me were making our way to the theater, hands full of sodas, heavily buttered popcorn and an assortment of previously purchased candy contraband stuffed discreetly into various pockets and purses.

We came up to this kid, who was maybe around 15 or 16, talking very loudly (which is the ONLY way teen-agers can talk these days in public) on his cell phone. Right as we passed by him, I heard him say the following into the receiver: "Where are my sexy bitches?"

The feminist in me wanted to deliver a swift, decisive backhand to his lower jaw, but the 12-year-old boy in me won out, and I let out a quick, nervous chuckle. I was hoping that Cole and his buddy didn't hear, because that's just not something precious little 8-year-old ears should hear. And I should know, because I have an entire collection of my own verbal nuggets that I can guarantee you Coleman should not have heard over the years.

So I quickly compose myself, and casually glance down at Cole to see if it registered. He looks up at me and starts to giggle the giggle of a boy who KNOWS he shouldn't have heard, but can't deny this one fact: that was pretty damned funny.

We both exchanged knowing glances and smiles, and moved on.

Later that night, we were playing another high stakes game of family Yahtzee at the kitchen table, and I decided to share the story with Aidan and Dan. Clearly, it wasn't as funny to them.

Soon after I was working on my Four of a Kind, and I decided to go for my sixes, when it just kind of slipped out: WHERE ARE MY SEXY SIXES?

Cue hysterical laughter of boy and mom.

And now, it will never NOT be funny.

Yeah, I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr. too (spoiler…if you see the Hulk you might get to see him.) He is super hot in a sarcastic likeable way. Now how hard is that to pull off?

Honestly, I would have the same thoughts as you about wacking that kid in the back of the head. I want to do the same thing to teenagers who are constantly texting and talking on the phone but I hold back. I get you girl!

My mother says that my twin brother and I were the sweetest, most innocent children in the world, but as soon as we were sent off to kindergarten, it all changed. We were then exposed to words that are certainly not age appropriate for 5. It is sad that many kids these days have such little respect. When my time comes to be a parent, I can just hope to raise them the way that I was raised and hope they turn out OK despite society changes.

Glad you could enjoy the giggles of the moment with Cole.

P.S. You tell a GREAT story… QUITE entertaining!

proof my 3yo son has a dad: as we’re driving, little guy is chattering as usual, husband had to slam on the brakes & son uttered “ock!” & continued on with his story. although it was slightly off, the tone & inflection were perfect. (if looks could kill, i’d be a widow.)

OK…due to computer misfortune…I missed the day that we were to talk about good things about ourselves. I have to brag, I have to boast…I have lost 207 lbs this past year. Yes, I do attribute it to a medical intervention, and yes, my thighs look like pitiful funeral home curtains…but I am a leaner, meaner, healthier gal. I love the new me, is it hard to tell?
Wanted to let you know that “Sex in the City” is a must see for a girls night out. Especially, if you were a fan of the show.
What a great ensemble cast! Love you….

I’ve got me a low-budget RDJr. He’s on “Young & The Restless.” Christian LeBlanc. Love him! Something about him just reminds me of Robert Downey Jr. I think it’s the sarcasm thing.

My 13 year old daughter just asked, “Mom, what’s so funny?”
“just something sexy on the Internet.”
    “MOM!”

    Thanks CZ, I needed that.

I just love reading your blog everyday! You are so entertaining and unpredictable!

I caught myself saying “who’s a good dog” to my black lab Bailey the other day. I started to laugh and I think she thought I had finally gone crazy.

    that’s great.

if you want to save a little money at the rosedale theater…go in the mornings on the weekends or weekdays/nights (mon-thurs) for only $5. plus, if you go in the am on the weekends…they might let you bring in panera. (not that popcorn wouldn’t be good at 10:00)

hope the filming went well today.

    take care.

Thanks SO much for the Sexy Bitches story. I have a six year old son and frankly enjoy being able to enjoy boy humor with him. Much to the chagrin of my sister-in-law when I’m with my two boys around her two well-behaved girls. You make me feel OK and I love it.
