I know that this year-end recap thing is either a) done WAY better than I could do it, or b) lame, but I thought I'd share my favorite posts of 2008 with you, the ones you had to: a) enjoy, b) think about, or c) endure, scratching your head and wondering why in God's name you read this blog.
All of my love, blog readers. And I really do mean that. You let me share my voice, however strange and idiosyncratic it may be at times, and you comment. It means a lot.
Without further adieu, the Best of 2008 as voted by a panel of me:

The Scrapbooking Indoctrination Video They Didn't Want You to See
This truly was the high point for me, in terms of a) making an ass of myself and b) making an ass of myself.
Teaching Aidan an Important Life Lesson
It just feels so right when you KNOW you are passing along information that's this good.
The Tag Book Post
This was probably the only relevant scrapbook related thing of 2008 with great value. You can search my blog using the Google search for all relevant "tag book" posts. Enjoy!
Six Word Memoirs
Didn't come up with this, but I loved the book, and now there's even a deluxe edition. The video still makes me weepy.
Proof My Husband Likes Me
Just a simple story that I shared with a lot of people throughout the year. It later became a scrapbook page.
Why I like to use "dick weed" in my everyday conversations
Self explanatory, really.
King of the World
Cole as the St. Paul Saints Mini Super Fan. Sniff. It will be his last year as Super Fan has moved away.
White&Nerdy
Because this got more non-giveaway related comments than anything I have ever posted. Ever.
And there you have it.
One thing this tells me: i need to write more often and better. But hey, at least I worked "dick weed" into my faves for 2008.
Happy New Year's Eve and thank you so much for spending a wee bit of your internet browsing time with me.
Kim Strother says

Merry 2009 to you and your wonderful family.

As much as I love Ali, Stacy and Donna, how could you not. Such lovely, talented woman just like yourself. I can NOT imagine them using dick weed in any sentance, OK Maybe Donna LOL. Point is that I always feel like you are my neighbor and you are always real!
Thanks for all the good times and for keeping it real!
Happy New YEAR to you and your family.

Had a chuckle at “Mini Fan” as my son’s a huge minor league fan, such great fun, eh? Great photos and routine they did. Interesting about “the wave” – we only get it at our stadium with the A’s affiliate team comes to play, otherwise zilch audience participation involving movement [unless it’s YMCA or chicken dance]. Happy 2009 – and thanks for your yearly wrap up. π
Elena says
Happy New Year, Cathy! Just wanted to say thanks for the list of “best” – I loved every single one of them the first time AND the second. You make me laugh, you make me cry, you make me think, you make me feel…and I love ya for it. You are a gift, truly.

Just so you know, I check your blog and Pioneer Woman’s every day, because inevitably you provide the silly thought that helps me regain my own sense of humor.

Ok, I just started reading your blog in September, so thanks for the retrospective on the year. I am sitting here with literally tears streaming down my face…I LOL’d (like they heard me on the other floor of the house) howling at the Tom Cruise video. And OMG-the Oprah entry right under this one!! I can relate. And so can that bag of Peanut M&M’s I just had to (HAD TO) buy two days ago at Target and is now half gone (or more) because I’m having some sort of an irritated, PMS, post Christmas, pre-new years and can’t the kids be back in school yet?, freezing my arse off and sick of shoveling snow chocolate fest this week.
And today you are my hero.
Happy New Year!
Kathy

Isn’t it fun to have your own blog that you can do what you want & it doesn’t really matter if anyone cares what you say or not It’s a matter of don’t read if you don’t like it. I love having my blog so I can share & it is really awesome when people actually type comments.
Happy New Year Cathy.

ok so did you see marley & me – and you know how they made a book from a bunch of columns & then turned it into a movie – same deal in the imaginary world of carrie bradshaw – she made her columns into a book
why don’t you write a book. a real book. a sort of autobiographical kind of novel.
you can do it. you are funny. people would read it. even non scrapbooking people. think about that.
Michelle says
I just want to thank you for your blog. You make me laugh when I should be working, you make me laugh when I really need it! I’m not a scrapbooker, but would love to start someday… as for now, I’ll just continue to read your genius blog and look for you on the mean streets of salt lake city! π
White and Nerdy still gets me every time! Thanks Cole!!!

Tracy Anderson says
OK… all of those posts were great… but, the Dick Weed post has got to be tops… not just because your post is awesome, but if you take the time to read through all the reader comments, it just keeps you laughing and laughing…. for a good half hour, at least. Man, is THAT good for the soul π
My cousin just had a baby in July and she is trying very hard to clean up some of her language before he starts speaking…. so, she recently shared with me that she has determined that she says “That is SO Gay” more often than she would like. So, she has modified it… Now, she tries to say “That is SO Bert & Ernie.”
Cracked me up…
Thanks for the recap of such great posts, Cathy… you are awesome π
