Through a lens of wine and legos

Through a lens of wine and legos

Punkrockgirl

The thing I love most about my new camera is that it makes me want to take pictures. Again. And I LOVE that feeling.

Punkrockgirl2

It makes me want to explore my house. Peer in on my almost teen-aged girl doing what is a pretty normal activity in the Zielske household: internetting.

Or it just makes me want to take shots where I say, "Hey, put your hat on your skirt and hold still."

Punkrockleg

It also makes me happy because even my offspring, knowing that Mom is stoked about the new camera will say something like, "MOM! Take a picture of my Lego Iwo Jima!"

Legoiwojima

Or, "MOM! Take a shot of the Miracle on the Hudson BEFORE the crash!" (including Harry Potter and a quasi Roman style emperor, in the front of the plane, and minus the roof, of course):

Legoplane

Or it just makes me look at my life through a lens of wine and legos, in general.

Wine&legos

I'm so excited about taking pictures right now.

And speaking of taking pictures, I'm listing my old Nikon D200 on eBay, along with three Nikkor lenses: a 50mm 1.8; an 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6, and a 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 zoom lens. If you know anyone who might want to snag a deal, let them know.

You can find the auction here.

Have a great weekend.

Love the Zielske everyday pics. Very cool. I find that with my new camera I’m pulling it out more often to take pics & it makes it oh so much fun. Can’t wait to see what else you discover in your house.

My son asks me to take pictures of his lego creations on a daily basis. I’m going to have good stuff for a lego mini book someday.

Cathy, I wish that I was the one buying your D200, but I just bought a brand spankin new D90 (love it!!) and my husband would not understand my need for your old rig. I wouldn’t even shoot with it, probably. I’d just display it prominently on a shelf in my scraproom and think “Cathy Zielske touched this camera! It hung out in her house!” And that would be enough for me. πŸ™‚

I love the new pictures. I went and started the bidding…although i’m sure I won’t get it, but it’s always nice to see busyness on your own auctions, right?

    oh! see? Outbid already.

    Happy weekend!

Cathy, you are a brave girl going “cold turkey” and coming over to the dark side of Canon. I was a Minolta film camera girl — had all the lenses and equipment — and kept waiting for them to come out with a DSLR, but to no avail so I finally got the Canon Digital Rebel and all new lenses. I have not been sorry once. I absolutely LOVED this camera and recently got the 40D to replace it, but of course could still use all the lenses from the Rebel. To start over from scratch with all new equipment is a big step, but I think you’ll be very happy you did. All my friends who have Nikon wish they had a Canon. Signed, a DYL student and constant fan!

I loved those pics. I tried doing the project 365, and am doing ok, but I got my Nikon D60 for Christmas and I take pics all the time – is it bad that I took over 3000 pics in January alone?? Mind you not all of them were good, but its just so fun to try new angles and settings. I love it!!!

Is Dan wearing your orange sweater in that last shot, or is it standard uniform in the Zielske house?

The first pic I took with my camera right out of the box was of my AMM tote. I still have it somewhere, it was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

Love your photos! And congrats on becoming a Canon girl! I love my Canons. My wonderful hubby got me a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for my birthday a couple months ago and I love it!

Thanks to the gal who posted the link to the lego blog. I can’t wait till my son gets home from school to show it to him.

    Enjoy your picture taking day!

First–congrats on crossing to the dark side. I did it two years ago and haven’t regretted it.
Second–love the photos, and Aidan’s skirt.
Third–I thought of you when someone linked me to the URL I listed as my URL (it’s not mine). I think you have at least 1000 true fans, and I’m one of ’em.
Thanks for keeping it real. And espousing good grammar. And typesetting.
