Introducing CZ Design at Designer Digitals

I'm super excited (and totally geeked out) to share that I'm going to be working with Designer Digitals designing templates, word art and who knows what else in the coming months. Designing digital templates is something I've been wanting to do for a really long time, but never had the time, the knowledge, or the confidence to just bust a move, and get digi with it.

And now, apparently, I do.

Beginning this weekend, Designer Digitals will be carrying my CZ Design brand of digital products. For now, my focus will be on template design, both for layouts and album projects. You can expect the clean and simple design style that I've embraced from day 1 in scrapdom to be featured in my digital designs.

Each template will be rooted in solid design, including journaling blocks with lots of leading to enhance readability, thoughtful use of space, and even some design or journaling tips tossed into the template itself.

The layout above comes from my first template set, By The Numbers Set 1, (click here for supplies) which goes on sale this Saturday after 6 p.m. EST.

This set covers ages/numbers 1 through 10. My initial idea was to scrapbook about my kids and their ages, but the amazing design team at Designer D had other ideas.

First off, these 8-1/2 x 11 designs are super easy to convert to 12 x 12 (I provide instructions in the template set). Check out these intepretations that don't involve kid age angle or 8-1/2 x 11 sizes.

This one is by Steph:

This one celebrates an anniversary, and is by Brittany:

I feel like a mama who has just had a baby, and my babies are now growing up in the form of totally cool digital memory documents. I mean, I would have never thought to do an anniversary page with it. And seeing how Dan and I are coming up on 18  years in a few weeks, it's a good thing that I've also got By The Numbers SET 2:

(Set 2 gives you the next group of numbers.)

(See supply lists here for the layout above).

In the realm of digital scrapbooking, I'm still a relative newbie. True, I've been a digi hybrid girl since the beginning, and I still plan to combine the two forms, mix them and merge them. But I am totally inspired to save and share stories with a little bit of Photoshop on my side.

Look for these template sets and one new single template design this weekend (preview coming later this week!)

And thanks to the creative team at Designer Digitals for making me feel so very welcome, and rocking my templates.

I am absolutely thrilled with your new venture Cathy! Kudos to you!- I dabbled in digital scrapbooking last November, embraced the learning curve and took a couple of online classes. Honestly, I have never looked back. I love the no-mess, no glue, no scissors approach to telling stories. Thanks so much for adding to the wealth of quality products at DD that I choose from every week! πŸ™‚

so very very excited to see you taking this on Cathy! You’ll be a natural, and to think it all started with that first DYL class, didn’t it? You totally loved the way those girls put together those layered templates and spent 20 minutes sitting in front of their computer doing a layout instead of sitting at a desk and physically pulling out all that stash to create a layout . . . you were probably a tad jealous, weren’t you!!?!? haha, it’s okay to admit it!! You are rockin’ the digi thing and I can’t wait to buy a set (or two) and experiment! Between you and Ali E, I may just do more digi very soon!

Can these be hybrid? I’m very basic in PSE, and don’t exactly know how to take digital papers and add them to the template. But, I could drop and drag the photos and then print them out. ? Then put them on paper? I don’t know, what do you think my best bet is Cathy?

  4. #10

Yeah…I can’t wait for your clean and simple templates! I hope I will be able to do hybrid with them…

  5. #11

Fabulous! I can’t wait to try these. I, too, would like some hybrid ideas. I’ve done enough digi to know I still like the “feel” of paper in my layouts.

  6. #15

Yes! I was wondering when this day would come, especially with your recent LOs featuring DD products. Looking forward to likely owning everything you put out. πŸ™‚

  7. #16

Congrats on the designer templates, Cathy! They look awesome. I am definitely going to be buying some of these!

  8. #17

I’ve been waiting for this for ages! Welcome to digi, Cathy! DesignerDigitals has been the best place for digital supplies as long as I’ve been around Photoshop, and is just got even better.

  9. #18

I’m pretty sure you know how I feel about you being with DD by now! You’ve just recharged my creative juices! So glad you’re designing in digi. It’s a match like peanut butter and chocolate!

  10. #21

I was going to ask you if you would think about making templates for the 8 1/2 x 11 school albums you have done for Aidan and Coleman. Now that you are designing at DD…where should I send the request? Best of luck in this newest adventure. I’m sure you will have a blast.

  11. #22

OMG!!!!! How Exciting is that? I love Templates. And so I know I’m going to love CZ Design Templates! πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to check out your “new” store this weekend! YEAH!!!!! – oh and welcome to the “Dark” side of scrapping. LOL!

  12. #23

Hey Shannon, this particular template set is a best bet for digi… but, there will be other templates and elements coming more suited for hybrid!

  13. #26

Why Stacy, you can just send that idea right here! : )

I’ll put it on my list of possible ideas. That’s a good one, too!

  14. #29

Great templates Cathy! I am looking forward to purchasing and using them. I am also looking forward to taking your class at Big Picture Scrapbooking this Jan.

    Gutsy Mom

Hmmm… this could be just the push I need to try some digi. Of course, this means I’ll need to purchase PSE and figure out how one goes about printing 12×12 digi layouts… sounds like a Christmas present wish list is in the works. Or, I’ll just stare and drool and wish I wasn’t such a rube!

  16. #34

Cathy – congrats on your new endeavor with DesignerDigitals. I’m very excited to see you on board with the other great designers and am looking forward to nabbing some of your templates! Good Job, Cathy!

  17. #35

Oh my! I won’t have any extra money now! Can’t wait to see what you have coming out in the months ahead. Congrats to you!

  18. #36

Hey Gutsy mom, it’s easier than you think! : )

You should take a PSE class by Jessica Sprague or Renee Pearson. You’d TOTALLY be good to go!

OK, I am a tried and true paper gal, but this might make me turn to the Dark Side for a while. Seriously, I could do afamily album for my parents, life lessons for my kids, and so on. Thanks!

  20. #38

I am seriously GIDDY that you are doing this. πŸ™‚ When SS ended I remember thinking a whole new door will open for you, and now less money will be in my account. LOL WOOHOO!

  21. #39

Congratulations! Can’t wait to get my hands on these! I KNOW these are going to be super successful for you!

  22. #41

As if I needed another reason to spend money at DD!! Congratulations!! I so love your style and now it will be easier than ever to recreate it (or at least try!!)…

  23. #43

Sooooo totally cool Cathy! These are awesome! I just might have to trim down the “paper” part of my scrapping. Love them.

  24. #44

Hey Cathy, you rock! You’ve totally made my hump day! Especially the part about 81/2 x 11 templates! I do paper, digi and hybrid scrapbooking. But when I do digi, I prefer the 81/2 x 11 size because of the ease and cost of printing them. So to know that I can get your templates, in my favorite size, at my favorite digi site is just awesome! As I look back at the LO’s I did in DYL last year, I love, love, love them. Wow … thanks!

  25. #45

Yay! This is really fabulous news Cathy; there is very little doubt that I will be purchasing all of your templates. And pretty please I totally need a school set before my kids leave school!

  26. #46

Just yesterday, JUST yesterday, I was lamenting the fact that I couldn’t find any CZ style 8.5×11 digital templates. I kid you not.

I will be buying everything you make.

YOU ROCK. I know you have heard it before, and undoubtedly will hear it again. I LOVE your style and just recently started digi scrapping. I am so thrilled. I think I need to go have a ciggy now. πŸ˜‰
(and I don’t smoke.) That’s how good this is.

  28. #51

This really is exciting news. Can’t wait to check them out this weekend and spend a few bucks.

So I’m curious do you no longer use indesign?

So cool – I have stayed away from Digi but I might try with your templates!! I have always loved and scraplifted your work.

I love them! They are “clean and simple” and yet so awesome. Thanks for sharing the anniversary and “three” ideas, too. That makes them so much more. πŸ™‚

  37. #72

Can’t wait to buy these. Just yesterday I posted a comment on the Ella blog that I would like an ebook on design with layered files from you.

  38. #73

looking forward to Saturday! I buy most of my products at DD, and I love your simple style (have two of your books). So now I can combine the two!

    THIS ROCKS, Cathy!

Will there be carryover from the new digi versions of Design Your Life? Or will the layouts from that class be different? Just asking since Iknow I am signing up for it.

    Sara Horton

Welcome to Designer Digitals, Cathy! I can’t wait to see all of the awesome templates you have cooked up!

  41. #80

Wow Cathy you totally rock! Congrats on the new adventure. I’m newish to scrapbooking and I found your book in our local library (in little wee New Zealand!). I love your style, of all the designers I’ve seen. I just might even get into digital now that you are there! Have fun on the ride!

  42. #84

Yay! I love your style and I can’t wait to buy your templates. I scrapbook just for fun and like a more modern clean look like you use–are there any free fonts you recommend?

    just want to say…
Have been wanting to dabble in digi but have overwhelmed by what available…this is a perfect way to start!!!

  44. #86

I am thrilled about this news Cathy, I am doing more and more hybrid layouts and with you at the wheel could be tempted to do some fully digital ones. What makes the difference to me is your rocking design skills and the smaller size which won’t be too hard for me to convert to A4 so I can print them from home on full bleed.
I would also like to add my name to the list of requests for a set of school templates with room for those awkward size photos.
    Thanks πŸ™‚

  45. #87

Thank you for the great way to blow my birthday cash! LOL. Looking forward to the templates and can’t wait to see what else you come up with.

  46. #89

Cathy…When I first discovered your books about three years ago, and “digi-scrapbooking” websites shortly thereafter, I actually spent time searching to see if you had any digital templates available! So this is GREAT NEWS! I’m sure you will bring an army of devoted fans to Designer Digitals! Congratulations! P.S. I would love to see some templates with lots of journaling space!

  47. #90

Congratulations! And as an 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbooker, thanks for making templates available for us too!

  48. #91

Cathy, this is great news! CZ and DD is a match made in heaven!! I love everything you do, and will likely buy everything you design! I can’t wait to check it out this weekend.

    Kim K

NOW you’ve done it!!! I’ve been threatening to try digi…but just haven’t done it.
    This is it!
I’m getting my PSE trial, and I’m doin’ it.
    Thanks, CZ!

  50. #95

So happy to hear that we can now get your templates. When I saw these templates, I right away thought of using them for my December Daily. I hope you continue the numbers to 31.

I love your blog and your design style. I haven’t gone totally digi, because I love physical products too much. I have been printing all my pictures for years now, but I’m very frugal with my photo paper and carefully plan the sizes of my pictures to maximize as much paper as possible. I love templates that use a whole sheet of letter size photo paper.

Congratulations Cathy! You truly deserve this.
The sneak peeks are amazing. Saturday is only 3 sleeps away, yehhhhh.
All the best with this new endeavour.

  52. #98

cool! I’ve loved the way you scrapbook since I found you, but I like digi instead of paper. The fact that you have ‘crossed over’ ha ha…(sort of) is just wonderful! Looking forward to shopping and scrapping…hopefully your design skills will rub off & I’ll have pages like yours!
