A little of this, a little of that

December 10, 2009

A little of this, a little of that

IMG_6903

Last weekend, we decided to head over to Bob's Famously Fresh to pick out our Christmas tree. It wasn't too chilly out, and the time was right.

IMG_6896

This trip was a full week earlier than the Zielskes normally perform the tree acquisition holiday function. I just figured I needed a little extra boost of holiday cheer, so off we went.

IMG_6941

I don't generally go nuts with holiday decorating, limiting it to the living room of our house. Still, seeing the tree every morning when I come down to make coffee makes me happy.

Speaking of happy…

These feet make me happy, because they are attached to this boy:

Goodboy

Chester's only here for a few days, but he certainly knows how to make himself at home.

IMG_6955

Shhhhh. I'm sleeping now.

I plan to work a bit today, then wrap up some more Christmas presents using Ali's adorable taggers.

IMG_6868

And with a half of a foot of freshly fallen snow on the ground, I'm definitely starting to feel the charm of December.

Who knows, I may even take a shower and get dressed before noon. I guess what I'm saying is that today, anything is possible.

I just went and bought those dang cute circular tags. Now I’m off in a direction that will help postpone the things I’m supposed to do today, like look for a job.

Hey Cathy – Been wondering… your cutting mat. I dig it. What size is it (it’s huge right?) and where can you get em? My hubby’s been buggin me for some Christmas ideas.

Did you use “plain” cardstock for those tags? {Very cute, I might add – have been eyeing them at DD.} Did you size to a particular circle cutter you owned, and if so, what was the size?

Jean, the mat is an Alvin mat, and actually, i just bought a new one that is like, oh… 24 inches by 20 maybe? Not the hugest size—i have a HUGE mat, but lately, i’ve been using the smaller one.

I bought a new one because my old one is super gunked up and Cole likes to use it for clay projects.

The cutter…. hmmm. I used the XL size of a Fiskars Circle squeeze punch. I just printed ali’s tags as is, and it worked great.

Jean, I just used my bazzill white OP cardstock.

And the punch was the XL Fiskars circle squeeze punch, i believe.

WOW, that sounds chilly! I’m sitting here with slippers on and a heat bag in my lap and I’m in Phoenix, AZ! However, it’s still a nippy 41 degrees out – that’s COLD for here!

LOL…anything is possible. I had to work from home yesterday because of the foot of snow we got here in Iowa, and let’s just say, some things didn’t get done like it normally would’ve. LOL…

    Enjoy the day!

We also got our tree a week early this year, I don’t normally do decorations until the 13th but they were up last weekend. Those tags are cute, reminds me I need to make a start on making mine!

I have a Golden Retriever named Sampson (I may have commented about him before), and we have deemed him The BEST DOG in the WHOLE WORLD! So I know how Chester must get in to your heart, and never leave. Love, love, love the four legged guys that want to be with us always.

Aren’t you glad that you picked your tree early this year? We bought our last weekend as well, although this weekend the weather would be more traditional…very cold! We usually look at all the trees they have until our feet turn to ice and then take whatever tree we happen to be looking at then.

I am so excited that you have snow this year. We are flying up next Friday to visit the family for a few days. The last several visits have been snow-less = disappointed childern + disappointed mom with no snowman pictures. We are such dog people. I always love it when you doggie sit!

Ok, I know you don’t want to hear this but it was sunny and 63 here today in the Phoenix area. I love pictures of snow but I’m sure glad I no longer live where it piles up. Sorry. Christmas is still fun though here in the desert. Enjoy that tree, being in your PJs and having a good hot cup of whatever you prefer.

I am really sorry to hear that = hadn’t heard you mention the wrists in a while. 🙁 Do hope they’ll get better soon. It must be sooo irritating as well as painful, especially when they’re your tools in trade. Thinking of you…
