What is the difference between the all digital kit and the hybrid kit?
The main difference between the two is that in the fully digital kit you get layered PSD templates for the title page, the monthly opener pages and the photo collage pages; in the hybrid kit, you do not. But, you DO get the title page pieces, the monthly titles, and a sketch guide to show how your photo collage pages could go together. There are no measurements included.
Also, in the hybrid kit you get special templates for printing 2.5 x 3.5 photos/journaling cards used to print out manually, and trim, for use in divided page protectors. If you are a digital scrapbooker who wants to use divided page protectors, you will need the hybrid kit for this approach. My goal was to make a kit for digital scrapbookers to fit their needs, as well as those hybrid people (like me.)
I am combining the two kits for use in my album.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at czdesign@comcast.net.

Cathy – I have a special request. I purchased the digital kit this weekend at the special price. Can you make the “special templates for printing 2.5 x 3.5 photos/journaling cards used to print out manually” available as a stand alone item(s) so that we can do what you’re doing without purchasing both kits? (In this economic time, it’s hard enough to buy one on sale let alone two kits.)
I hope you’ll consider it….and thank you for your scrapping genius and inspiration.
Heidi says
Thank you for clearing that up!! What to do, what to do… I think I am going to go for the hybrid because the cute printable journaling cards would fit in the BH project life journaling spaces too. π
You snuck in those adorable bride and groom wish cards too! My best friends daughter is getting married in October and these would be a great addition. I can hear her already saying “Oh Heidi you are so crafty, these are adorable!!” hehe LOL
Heidi says
OK, Nicole is smarter than me, a seperate journaling download would be awesome too!! LOL
cathy says
That is a good idea.
I am still learning how to best serve both the fully digital and hybrid scrapbooker!
All of this feedback is very helpful!
Nicole Czarnecki says
Oh, I just want to copy Cathy….put those baseball card insert pages in with more photos and journaling. I even have the pages ready to go. (I just want those templates so I don’t have to measure.) π

i bought the 12×12 digital kit over the weekend to put together a baby’s first year gift album for my new nephew coming this september – i’m thinking i should have waited for the hybrid version to make it easier on the mom-to-be?? maybe the separate add-ons coming will help me out…. or maybe just buying some of the divided page protectors that hold standard 4×6 photos to pair with the journaling pages?
cathy says
Jennie, are you making the album for the new mom? I am going to have a 12 x 12 hybrid kit (working on it today!) and add ons as well.
Are you giving it to the new mom to make herself?
katie says
I should have waited for the 12*12 Hybrid, for some reason I thought the sale ended yesterday. Also I would like to also say, could you make some of the hybrid parts avail. to purchase on their own.
Mary Mitchell says
I like Nicoles suggestion…..while most of my page would be digi….having just the hybrid journaling card would be the best of both worlds for me.
cathy says
I will be making add ons of just the journaling cards and photo templates, for both 8.5 x 11 divided page protectors, and 12 x 12 ones featuring both 4 x 6 and 4 x 4 slots. : )_
jennie says
i thought i replied to this, but it doesn’t seem to be showing up – sorry if it ends up posting twice! π my plan was to “assemble” the album for the mom-to-be, so she could just add in her photos and hand-journal on the cards. she isn’t a scrapbooker, so want to keep it super-simple for her. i thought i could print and cut up enough of the digital kit to make it work, but i think she would end up with too many non-standard size photos slots to fill. it sounds like the add-ons will be my solution – i wanted to use the 12×12 divided page protectors to make it easy for her (eg, so she can just pull out a pre-printed journaling card to write on, or just slip in 4×6 or 5×7 photos, etc.). thanks cathy! oh – could you please share what fonts you are using? i wanted to create a few custom matching cards for her with traditional baby things like weight, length, milestones, etc. for each month (or maybe that could be another add on??). π
cathy says
Jennie, im using the Archer font and a tiny bit of the Amelie font.
Now, you will want to wait then, for the 12 x 12 hybrid piece kit, which i should have done by next weekend. I am working on that today and tomorrow to get all of the pieces in together.
There will be 4 x 4 and 4 x 6 journaling cards to go into divided page protectors that feature those size slots.
Hope this helps!

Sold. I bought both kits today. This is just what I needed. Now I need to get to work. Thanks always for your great design.

YAY! Thanks for being so clear about the differences, and for working on making the add-ons for the “special templates for printing 2.5 x 3.5 photos/journaling cards used to print out manually, and trim.” I was having a hard time deciding, didn’t want to buy both, and this will be the perfect solution for me! I really am a hybrid girl, (I like to play with paper and trimmer) but the layered templates for photo collages are way easy and just rock! With Ali’s WITL stuff, I bought the hybrid packages, and then ended up getting the digi templates after all for just that reason. The hybrid stuff ended up being sort of a waste, as I ended up duplicating. Anyway, thank you so much for trying to meet all of our needs!
Another question: I am thinking of using this approach for my son’s first year, since my 3-year-old’s traditional first year isn’t done, and my 6-month-old’s isn’t started. I see you have an add-on for the school of life template set, and thought of getting all of that, except for the pocketbook damage. I am wondering if you think this set can be easily adapted for baby’s first year? Or if you are thinking of doing that kind of add-on for this set? (That way I can save the school of life purchase for when my kids actually start school!)
Have you tried Adagio Teas “Foxtrot” blend? I really enjoyed that when I was sick – i am sure it made me feel a bit better! ;o) Hope you are 100% soon!
Thanks,
Jen
cathy says
Enjoy, Shauna!
cathy says
Jen, i think you could adapt it for baby’s first year. I can’t see why not. You have the months, and the journaling cards.
I think it would be really fun to do that!
I have planned on just doing an add on set for the school set, of months too.
DawnS says
You read my mind Cathy…I was just getting ready to send you an email asking about the differences. I think I’m going to go get the digital kit now, and then get the add-ons. Thanks so much! You rock π
katie says
So, I have another question are the journaling cards you are making as a package as its own, for the 12 *12 is that printing on an 8.5 *11 printer or 12*12 printer. Does that make sense?
Diane says
Hi Cathy! Gorgeous day here in New England!!!
Bought the 8.5 x 11 digi kit over the weekend. Love, love the idea of the add ons. Make it so simple to do the divided pages.
Thank you!!!
Leora says
Another vote for the add-ons. Thanks Cathy!
cathy says
The 12 x 12 hybrid Add On pack will have individual files and files set up to print more than one item on 8.5 x 11 pages. Not a 12 x 12 printer! : )

I seriously am in shock..totally expected your post today to be all about Brett kicking ass last nightby winning Celebrity Apprentice> I went to the store today and spent $50.00 on Tropa Rocka Snapple Tea!!! I am so proud of our little rock of lover!!!
cathy says
He WON? I don’t actually watch the show, but I love Brett!
MaryAnn Perry says
I am loving this kit! I bought both the hybrid and the digital and am working on doing a year in review album for 2009. I can’t find the brush or png for the month by month that is on your pictures on the April page, is this not included in the kit?
And Brett rocks!! LOVE HIM!
cathy says
Mary Ann, you will find it on two layers of the EveryMonth Photo Grid. You can simply select the two layers that hold those words, and drag into a new doc. : )
If you need more help , let me know!
Karen says
Thanks for making the journaling cards a separate item. I really wanted the psd files so I went with the digital kit, but really can’t afford to buy the hybrid kit as well. I do want, however, to use the divided page protectors so I’ll wait until journaling cards are ready before I jump in. This is a fabulous project!
cathy says
It should be ready by saturday, Karen!
: )
MaryAnn Perry says
Awesome, Thanks! Seriously so loving this project!!

He totally won! Almost dies from a hemorage in the brain, has a stroke, then gets on a plane and in responce to Donald Trumps Question ” Why should I pick you?” He says…I didn’t risk my life, come here in pain to lose!!! LOVE THAT NEVER GIVE UP HEART OF HIS…and those tight jeans he wore didn’t hurt!!!
Kay Gregory-Clark says
Cathy, I left a comment on the first post about this project, but it may have been too late as it’s never appeared. Since you are answering questions still, here, I’ll post again. Some of your pages or sections have a rounded corner outline that is not included in the set. I’ve also gone back through other overlays and templates I’ve purchased to try to find something. I used to be able to add this back in my PageMaker days, but haven’t figured out how with PSE. Can you tell me, please, because I think it adds just the right finishing touch. Thanks!
Melanie says
Thanks, Cathy for explaining the difference and for trying to make all of us happy! Just bought the digital kit. Maybe this will finally make me figure out PSE! Excited too about the add-ons. Thanks so much!
Nicole Czarnecki says
Thank you my scrap goddess! You’re the best!
cathy says
Hey Kay, i did reply to that yesterday, did that not come to you via email?
The way i do it is to make a shape with rounded corners using the Rounded Rectangle tool, then I rasterize (or simplify the shape, then using the Marquee tool, i simply select and delete three sides (about a quarter of an inch deep) to remove the other three rounded edges. Does that make sense?
: )
cathy says
The 12 x 12 printables (as i’m going to call them to be clearer, as they will be used for the divided page protector 12 x 12 pages) will be out this weekend, if i can get my other computer to work today. Having some computer trouble on my main work machine. : )
Kay Gregory-Clark says
Thanks, Cathy, I’ll try this. No, I did not get yesterday’s message (just checked my junk mail folder, too). I’ve not figured out the rounded rectangle tool, but didn’t know about simplifying the shape. By the way, Something has happened to the Help function on my PSE that causes the program to crash everytime I try to use it. π
I also love the idea of the add-ons and will watch for them. Hope you’re feeling better! Thx again, particularly for being so responsive to your fans.
annie says
I couldn’t decide, so i got BOTH! Thanks, Cathy!
