Summer's in full swing. How do I know this? Exhibit A: baseball.
Because I don't have a zoom lens, I only take pics of Cole warming up, otherwise my shots resemble the baseball photo equivalent of ants. Is that my kid? Yes? No? Who can tell?
And Exhibit B of Summer in Full Swing is post-game trips to Dairy Queen.
Here is the girl, with her cone. I think she was trying to form Devil's Tower, but I'm not 100 percent sure.
We just hang out in the front yard, me taking pics, her eating cone.
Acting cheeky.
And generally adorable.
Yep. Baseball and Dairy Queen.
Summer's in full swing. Hello July!
p.s. Did you know a small DQ cone is only 5 points on WW? Worth it.

Lovely snapshots of the summer! I can feel a scrap page coming on….! π

I love these photos Cathy true american summer!!

Cathy,
I joined WW along the same time as you, after hearing it’s wonders from others. I love it! It totally works and I still get to eat π That being said, I had to let you know that a McDonald’s small cone is only 3 points and kiddie cone only 1 point! Enjoy!!

Ha! My blog post today has the same title! (Mine is about putter golf mostly) Summer is great isn’t it!
Sarah says
Ah, the rewards of sitting through a baseball game….. mmmmm, ICE CREAM! π
Kitsa says
Cathy, great pics! By the way, I want to wish my fellow Canucks a Happy Canada Day today! Whoo hoo!!
Lee Currie says
Definitely wonderful summer shots, this is the first one I have no one playing baseball and no reason to head to DQ. Sad. What kind of camera do you use? I’ve got a Sigma 70-300 lens that I’ve used for years and it captures great moments – and, the best part is the lens is cheap (relatively, of course!). Check it out!
cinback says
Yep, summer’s here! We have already made our first trips to Dairy Queen for mint oreo blizzards! Love it!

I honestly cannot pinpoint what exactly it is, but the second photo of Cole screams Dan to me. It’s just his back, and I don’t even know Dan, but for some reason it’s just sooooo obvious to me that he’s Dan’s boy. π
Kris Cline says
Is Cole’s Little League season still on or are you into summer ball? Gotta love baseball!
melanie says
Same here with my baseball shots, sucks eh? Too bad you don’t live closer, we could go halfers on a nice zoom lens. π
Pat Baker says
ditto here…just watched my grandson play T-ball the other night and followed up with a trip to DQ — oh, those summer nights!
alexa says
Love that last photo of Aidan in particular – and aren’t your two wonderfully lean and leggy! I’m sure that Cole’s proportions are changing …!

i’ve been on the ww’s point system for 11 days, and counting, and i just have to say, “IT’S HARD!”. But nonetheless i do feel better, and i try to focus on this when i’m tempted once again to just throw my little notebook away! π
thanks for all the inspiration!

Lee, i have Canon digi SLR i just don’t have a zoom lens. I need one. Desperately!
cathy says
It’s a summer rec league. : )
cathy says
Anna, it IS hard. it’s not supposed to be easy, but you have to give it a good 3 weeks to shake off that feeling of “OH MY GOSH, HOW AM I GOING TO MAKE IT?”
One day at a time. Seriously. Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater just yet.
You really can do this.
Sally says
ww really does work. yes, it’s a total p.i.t.a. writing everything down, calculating the points, etc (which is why i find myself eating the same things day after day after day, since i already know what the points are, hehe), but it does work! lost 6 pounds my first week. yay me! i’m in week 3, doing it myself this time around. ( i already paid to join the class 3 times…) by the way- a fudge bar at dq is only one point, i think! π every little thing helps, right?? π
Nursing clothing says
oh that’s so sweet! you look gorgeous on that ice cream. want that ice cream too! LOL
anyways, gonna full swing on it to got a home run. yay!
Marge Johnston says
Our baseball season is wrapping up – tournament games this week!! But I had to sigh, as that is our same routine as well — baseball game followed by a trip to DQ for twisty cones!! It’s the tradition– and we’ll be continuing it with the littlest man as he gets his start next year in the coach pitch league! Somethings are just too good to let go of!!
Marge Johnston says
Cathy,
you can pick up the 75-300 lens for around $100, without the IS — outside you won’t need it and it takes some pretty great baseball shots! It’s all I use for our games! I usually sit at first base and shoot into the field – you can get right in on their faces at bat with it! Just in case you were looking for something inexpensive to play around with before going in whole hog!!:)

I once scrapped two non-zoom photos of our son batting, and on close examination later, realized he had changed shoes in mid-swing. So. Good decision on warm up photos. Nice form on that catch, by the bye.
