So a few months ago, in the spirit of all things running and fitness related, I gave away an iPod. The winner of that iPod is a really cute lady named Leslie.
Now she wasn't just content to win and plug it into an iPod dock somewhere. Nope. Not my Leslie! Instead, she has been getting her running groove on with increasing frequency and confidence in her own efforts to Move More and Eat Less.
She was feeling so inspired and sporty that she decided to pay it backward by sending me the necklace you see above from TheSilverMaple.com.
Check it out. They have an entire line of fitness-inspired necklaces.
I don't know about you, but I'm thinking someone needs to buy this one for Miss Ali "Kick Ass Triathlete" Edwards.
And look at this one. It would go very nicely with a copy of Run Like a Mother. That's all I'm sayin'โฆ
I can't tell you how much I love this necklace. Or wait, I guess I AM telling you right now.
Oh, for CUTE!
Hey! Speaking of cuteโฆlook, it's my collarbone. I have MISSED you!
More cuteness? My new aquatics swim card that gets me into my local pool for lap swim. I know. Adorable.
And nestled directly under that? Something that, I'm sorry, really tips the scales of super cuteness:
I am no longer a bald-faced liar on my Driver's License.
Oh, for cute!
And thanks again, Miss Leslie!

Super cute! All of it, especially your swim card and Ms. Ali’s photos from her triathlon. ๐
Great necklace, fab driver’s license! ๐
I might get a necklace that says “Sick of being a lard ass”.
Such a nice idea for cute jewelry.
You just crack me up…I just lied on my DL by a few pounds. And you are so right about Ali.
that is cute! off to check out that website… I’m thinking b-day gift request ๐
super cute!!! now i want to give the cute necklace you pick for ali… do you know where can i send it to?
Yay for you on the new and truthful driver’s license! I notice you cleverly covered the year of your birth with the edge of the circle. ๐
You rock Cathy Zielske!
OMGosh…weight on the driver licence!!!
Glad I live in Australia…no weights here lol
Ha, when I got over to Ali’s blog yesterday, I was like, “Whoa … am I on Cathy’s site? What is it with the “new face of scrapping?!” Seriously, I love it. Ali ROCKS!
That’s a lot of pretty powerful free press for thesilvermaple.com. I’d say your Miss Leslie managed to pay it backward AND forward. Good stuff.
This is so cool!!!! Oh yes DL! All lies for me:) Now that is accomplishment! Way to go!!!
why do u have to put ur weight on ur driving licences in the us, weird Government bigbrother watching too much?

i think you can contact ali via her website! : ) I cant give out her addy. Sorry. : (
Your comments today were like listing my own! I too am moving more and eating less and am down 36 lbs so far. My sister and I were laughing about trying to get to the license weight (which is probably since 16) and not be lying when someone sees it or try to cover the number with your thumb!
Thanks for continuing to inspire us and share your story. Always one of my stops in the morning, this blog is still a great source of inspiration and fun – thanks, Cathy!
America likes details. LOL!
36? woo hoo! : )
You know, i let go of the 125 weight YEARS ago. Then, three years ago when i started to gain weight, i said, Screw it ill keep it at 150, then it seems like im at least TRYING to be honest. LOL!
That is just super cute! Thanks for sharing Carhy…and to Leslie for paying it backward…imagine what the world would be like with more Cathy’s and Leslie’s…hmmmm!
The post title woke me up, oh fer cute! (I have to throw in the northern Minnesota accent…)
simply Awesome!
I am SO thanking God right now that in Texas they don’t print your weight on your driver’s license! Love the necklace.
that’s ok! i thought she had a p.o. box or something. i’ll send her an e-mail later. thanks, cathy!
I was just on Ali’s blog 5 min ago, funny you mentionned it :-). That was so inspiring… I started the “Couch to 5K” program from http://www.coolrunning.com. Looking at Ali’s pictures and reading about her experience was good encouragement for me.
So cool Cathy! I am so excited to purchase the wife, mother, runner necklace for my friend Caroline! In January our families are traveling to Disney World where she is going to run the 5k on Friday, the half marathon on Saturday, and the Full marathon on Sunday! They call it “the Goofy” and you get a special medal.
I just committed to run the 5k (my first) with her and I’ve started Couch to 5k to get ready.
OMGosh!! Thanks for the link! I want a bracelet
with all the dates and finish times of my (so far) 16 Half-Marathons!! I can have a Half-Marathon Bracelet!!!
Doing a happy dance ehre!!
Exactly what I was thinking! Yeah Texas!! No weight on my DL!
super cute. i’m loving your new saying, “oh for cute!”
and i love that some gave back like that. super nice!
๐
oh, and i’m so jealous that you have a pool near you!
come live up north here in canada with us!!! you’d make our lives great here! ๐
my daughter is starting the couch to 5K because she wants to run a race in Oct. So fun! go you!
oh, totally wrote it with the accent in mind!
that is a CRAZY weekend of running. Seriously! : )
Good for you on the Cto5K!
16? I bow to youโฆ enjoy!
After reading your most recent “Tales from the Scales” and Ali’s triathlon post, I was inspired enough to get on the treadmill last night. It’s way to hot to start outside right now in Houston. Thanks for the inspiration.
you totally and completely crack me up!
So totally cool Cathy! LOVE the jewelry and your DL comments totally made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the daily humor. You continue to inspire us all. Have a great day!
This is all super cute and sweet just like you are!! I love the necklace and you and Ali Edwards both deserve it.
Cathy – I went thru the running posts but I can’t find an answer…back in January when you started this journey, did you start with walking on the treadmill and built up to running? Or did you just start running short distances and built up to longer ones? I want to try to run but I don’t know how to start. Right now, I could probably only run 100 yards or something. Okay, maybe 50 yards! Any advice would be great! THX and CONGRATS!
Hey Tamie, I just replied to your last question, but maybe its not showing up.
I didnt write about how much i was walking or running, but… i was walking at 3.3- 3.5 mph, then adding in a minute of jogging for every five of walking, then i just went up from there!
I did sent a link through for a Couch to 5K. Let me know if you do not get that reply!
Thanks, Cathy. My post isn’t showing up in the other place I posted it, so I assumed comments were closed and reposted here.
I just turned 44 (ugh) and am walking 30 minutes a day only a few times a week. I don’t have a treadmill so I walk the neighborhood. I’d like to boost that and turn it into running (double ugh). I’m trying to get high BP under control without drugs and I’ve done everything they’ve told me except exercise every day. You inspire me to try harder.
Can you re-send me the link for the Couch to 5K?
THANKS!
Sure! here you go:

Those are super cute necklaces! I just bought myself copy of Run Like a Mother today on lunch break, and was late back to work reading in my car. I’m only on week 3 of C25K, but am more than happy with what I’ve been able to do. I love reading your blog, sometimes I think we share the same brain!
Kelly, enjoy the book!
Cathy that necklace is cute! What a nice gal that Leslie is! BTW…you are still lieing on that DL…you are UNDER 150 now!!! Also, I think you and Ali should team up next year for the Danskin Tri I will even sign up to do it if you do, which means you have a whole 7 months training on me.
I carry two licenses. The cute one and the true one. Maybe someday they will join as one!
Love your new necklace and just in case you want to wear it to Savannah next year…. well here you go. http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/savannah?l=right I wish there was a walking necklace since that seems to be my thing now.
that is so sweet and you totally deserve it !
Love the necklace! Love the license! But what I really love is that turquiose blue on you! Very pretty:)
CATHY! I just did Day 1 of the C25K program to see if I could even do it…and I feel great! Thank you SO much for suggesting it. I’m going to officially start Week 1 on Monday so it’s easier to keep track (and I need to shop for better shoes and a sports bra this weekend!)
I found a podcast you can download to your iPod for each of the 8 weeks that has music playing and tells you when to walk and when to run. Also, there’s a FB page where people support each other. Thank you! Thank you! {hugs}
Tamie, thats great! Now yes, go get a good bra. Im a really big fan of Moving Comfort bras. REI carries them, and im guessing most of your local running stores will too!
Good luck!
You’re most welcome, Miss Cathy! So glad you liked it!! So grateful for your inspiration and motivation!
Flippin’ heck, you have to put your weight on your Driver’s Licence in America?! Glad we don’t in the Uk!
