Oh, for cute!

August 18, 2010

Oh, for cute!

IMG_4551

So a few months ago, in the spirit of all things running and fitness related, I gave away an iPod. The winner of that iPod is a really cute lady named Leslie.

Now she wasn't just content to win and plug it into an iPod dock somewhere. Nope. Not my Leslie! Instead, she has been getting her running groove on with increasing frequency and confidence in her own efforts to Move More and Eat Less.

She was feeling so inspired and sporty that she decided to pay it backward by sending me the necklace you see above from TheSilverMaple.com.

Check it out. They have an entire line of fitness-inspired necklaces.

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking someone needs to buy this one for Miss Ali "Kick Ass Triathlete" Edwards.

And look at this one. It would go very nicely with a copy of Run Like a Mother. That's all I'm sayin'…

I can't tell you how much I love this necklace. Or wait, I guess I AM telling you right now.

Oh, for CUTE!

IMG_4548

Hey! Speaking of cute…look, it's my collarbone. I have MISSED you!

More cuteness? My new aquatics swim card that gets me into my local pool for lap swim. I know. Adorable.

IMG_4560

And nestled directly under that? Something that, I'm sorry, really tips the scales of super cuteness:

Doyoubelieveinmiracles

I am no longer a bald-faced liar on my Driver's License.

Oh, for cute!

And thanks again, Miss Leslie!

Your comments today were like listing my own! I too am moving more and eating less and am down 36 lbs so far. My sister and I were laughing about trying to get to the license weight (which is probably since 16) and not be lying when someone sees it or try to cover the number with your thumb!
Thanks for continuing to inspire us and share your story. Always one of my stops in the morning, this blog is still a great source of inspiration and fun – thanks, Cathy!

So cool Cathy! I am so excited to purchase the wife, mother, runner necklace for my friend Caroline! In January our families are traveling to Disney World where she is going to run the 5k on Friday, the half marathon on Saturday, and the Full marathon on Sunday! They call it “the Goofy” and you get a special medal.

I just committed to run the 5k (my first) with her and I’ve started Couch to 5k to get ready.

Cathy – I went thru the running posts but I can’t find an answer…back in January when you started this journey, did you start with walking on the treadmill and built up to running? Or did you just start running short distances and built up to longer ones? I want to try to run but I don’t know how to start. Right now, I could probably only run 100 yards or something. Okay, maybe 50 yards! Any advice would be great! THX and CONGRATS!

Hey Tamie, I just replied to your last question, but maybe its not showing up.

I didnt write about how much i was walking or running, but… i was walking at 3.3- 3.5 mph, then adding in a minute of jogging for every five of walking, then i just went up from there!

I did sent a link through for a Couch to 5K. Let me know if you do not get that reply!

Thanks, Cathy. My post isn’t showing up in the other place I posted it, so I assumed comments were closed and reposted here.

I just turned 44 (ugh) and am walking 30 minutes a day only a few times a week. I don’t have a treadmill so I walk the neighborhood. I’d like to boost that and turn it into running (double ugh). I’m trying to get high BP under control without drugs and I’ve done everything they’ve told me except exercise every day. You inspire me to try harder.

Can you re-send me the link for the Couch to 5K?

    THANKS!

    I found a podcast you can download to your iPod for each of the 8 weeks that has music playing and tells you when to walk and when to run. Also, there’s a FB page where people support each other. Thank you! Thank you! {hugs}
