I'm not sure why it took me so long to realize that if you can upload your own photos to serve as your Facebook cover photo, then you can upload multi-photo templates to display more than one images. Yes, there are services out there that will also let you make your own, but I like to be a little old school and do it the digital scrapbooking way.

Today, I want you to be old school with me by using this:

It's a Facebook cover photo template package that includes step-by-step instructions on how to use it.

Download the package here:

For those of you new to the whole digital scrapbooking world, if you know how to open photos and clip them into shapes, you basically know the key to digital scrapbooking. Plus, this is a digital project anyone with Photoshop Elements or Photoshop can make.

Here's a step-by-step video for those of you who prefer to watch along, rather than read along. Just know the instructions are included in the digital package.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post and ask.

Also, if you haven't visited my Facebook page, I'd like to invite you to join in. I'm going to start doing some exclusive Facebook giveaways, as well as post some hopefully entertaining content over there for scrapbooker eyes only. I know, it sounds salacious, but trust me, it's all just good clean fun.

Once you visit and Like the page, if you click on the Like tab and select "Get Notifications," you will see most of what I post in your Facebook feed, avoiding those selective Facebook algorithms that sometimes let things come through and sometimes don't.

Speaking of putting your digital skills to use, the Designer Digitals 4th Quarter Sale is going on now! Save 30% off the entire store. It's a great time to stock up digital products. The sale runs through Thursday morning at 6 a.m. EST.

Cathy..thank you thank you…it’s about time to update my banner and we just had family photos taken…love the look of this! I used one by Kate Pertiet from DD that is up now..more of a “picture pile” look..but I love the clean lines of this πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for doing this and sharing it! I’ve wanted to play around with that for awhile, but just have not gotten around to it. I’ll definitely put it to use. Thanks again!

Thank you so much Cathy! You are so thoughtful for sharing this with us!

One thing I want to mention in case it’s not just me… but I had my volume up all the way on the Vimeo and my PC volume and still had a hard time hearing you on the video. Just an FYI. πŸ™‚

Thanks Stephanie! Good to know. I think the volume recorded low, but Im not sure why. Will be mindful of that in the future!

I am not able to open the template. It says not supported file type or damaged:( I also purchased some of your stuff from Designer Digitals over the weekend and some opened but one of them wouldn’t…got the same message. Why would that be?

  6. #14

Wait a minute…it’s there! I’m still pretty new to PSE so I’m not quite getting it yet! The few things I have done with PSE so far I’m sure have happened by accident because I just keep clicking away!!!! I will keep working on it!

Thank you for this template, but also thank you for the tutorial video – I learned something valuable in saving things for web & jpg.! I always thought you had to flatten your layered PS images before saving them – so glad to see you can just save to jpg. & it flattens (duh!!) and you can then save the original layered PS file for future use. Also learned how to save images for web a new way too – as often as I have to save images of paintings for upcoming shows, applications to shows, and just for my own website & blogs this tip will be so useful!! Thanks!!

Thanks so much for the template, Cathy! I have been wanting to create my own cover photo, but have been too lazy to figure out what I needed. Now it will be a snap!

  9. #24

Okay i am going to do this. I am assuming facebook walks you through how to upload? If not i have a 22 yo who can show me ( :

  10. #25

It sort up does. If you hover your mouse over the lower left area of your cover photo, youll get a Change Cover photo option. You choose Upload Photo and locate the file you created and it should work!

Thank you for the wonderful template. I have already gotten some compliments.
I hope that is a link to the photo. Anyway, since you are sharing……..:) I have a friend who wants a copy of my picture, but given the unique size, I have no idea what would be the best place to have something like this printed. Do you have any places that you recommend?

  13. #36

Thank you so much for this–I love my new cover photo, and I think I will have fun changing it out during the year. I have learned a lot from your blog (it is one of my favorites!). Thanks!

  14. #37

Hmmm. Thats a good question. You could try saving a new JPEG, NOT changing the resolution to 72, but changing the width to 11 inches, then any photo printer could print it for you!

    Hi Cathy,
Thanks for this template, it take my profile a step forward from the ordinary Facebook cover photos.:)

A question; do you have any template for a WordPress blog header?

    Chris Zempel

Oh, duh. That will work. Photoshop is still a second language to me and I am definitely not fluent yet. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

  17. #42

Looks great, Stacey! And dont worry about falling behind! Seriously. You have permanent access to the materials. Theyll be there when youre ready!

  18. #43

thank you thank you thank you! i have been trying to figure this out and you just spelled it out SO clearly!

  19. #46

Thanks for the Facebook template, just got back from a trip with great fall photos. This is just perfect, you are the best. Hands down the best!

  20. #47

I had unzipped the file…not sure why I got that message but it ended up working. Also, I tried working with the template again tonight and got it to work! When I saved it, I again got the same message but just tried changing my cover photo and it worked! Hope I can do this again when I decide to change it!!
    Thanks for the template!

What if we don’t have Photoshop?! I used to have it, but switched to a Mac, and I would have to pay to get it for this laptop. πŸ™

  22. #49

Hey Tracy, sorry, but this template only works with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. All of the templates I create are set up for PS or PSE. Sorry!

  23. #54

Cathy, Thank you for this template! I finally used it and posted it on my FB page – I love it. I think I will use it and change my background photo monthly!!

  24. #59

Wow, thank you so much. I’ve just created a facebook page and I was wondering if I can get a template!!!!! and then I found you!!!!! You’ve made my day!

  25. #64

Hi Cathy! I downloaded this facebook cover photo template from you back in 2012 when you originally posted it (thank you by-the-way!) and it is still currently my FB cover photo. I’m now wanting to update it (you think it’s time-lol?!) and couldn’t remember where I saved it, luckily I found it still here on your blog. I was wondering though if this is still the same size FB uses 5+ years later? I did some googling but wasn’t sure. If it’s not can I just change the size of this template? If so, to what? Basically…can you help a not so techy girl out? Thanks so much!! πŸ™‚

      Cathy Zielske

Oh man, well… FB has changed their sized quite a bit. I’m not sure this one will really work, but you can try it. I swear, I always just end up googling “Facebook Cover Size Photo” because they change it all the time! Hope that helps!

      1. #64.1.1

Thanks Cathy! I did google that but it all gets confusing to me:) I’ll play around with it. Thanks again!
