Download a free template and take a mini-class on how to use it, also for free

To celebrate International Scrapbook Day, I designed a new template (both in 12 x 12 and 8.5 x 11), along with a 3 x 4 Project Life card as seen above (available in PNG, PDF and layered PSD for those of you who want to add your own custom colors.)

If you are new to digital scrapbooking, I encourage you to download the free template set and watch my 20-minute video tutorial. It walks you through the basics of making a digital layout using Photoshop Elements. It’s like a free mini class on how to do it. Enjoy!

Here’s the page I made with the template, a story I touched on in Project Life, but wanted this for my All About Cole album.

Click on the link below to download this free set, including the two templates and the 3×4 card files.

Thanks so much Cathy. I love the journal card. I was just thinking that Designer Digital’s quarterly sale is next week and I’m going to need to you come up with a ton of product to release by then because I have this need to buy your stuff. Photo flags, filler cards like this… just make it. I will buy.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Are all of your templates set up to work this way? I was new to PSE a long time ago and didn’t know how to do this. I had purchased some templates and never did anything with them because I wasn’t sure how to use them. Now that I have more time and have seen this I am definitely exploring this more. Love your clean style. Thank you for sharing!

    Hi Cathy
Have I missed the free download.
Or am I just technically challenged.
I click download and get a series of zipped files.
I can’t seem to unzip or convert to psd file.

No one else seems to have had this problem so I fear its all me.

    Frances A

  25. #68

No, you havent missed it. They are zipped into one file, then you have to unzip the file. I can email it to you if you are having issues!

  26. #73

Thanks, Cathy. I just downloaded this file. I am a real newbie to Photoshop 11 and I will be trying this. Have not watched the videa yet, but, that will be my first step.

Cathy, just watched your video (first time seeing your videos) and I think you are so adorable the way you spoke with such clarity and excitement in your voice. Your speaking style is fun and quirky and the layout style seems to be the same as I like my pages. I’ve just recently found your blog and I am loving it. Thank you so much for sharing everything scrapbooking. I’ve been very overwhelmed with so many choices in the scrapbooking world, it’s nice to just sit down and try to follow your video with the template and complete something. You have a new fan!

  28. #78

Well hello Brenda! So glad you found me and thanks for leaving a comment. Please keep checking back. : ) If you use social media, I am also on Twitter and Facebook. Links are just at the top of the page under my main banner area. : )

Thanks for the freebies Cathy! I just watched your tutorial as I haven’t done any digital work for a long time and needed a refresher – it was great! Thanks again πŸ™‚

I downloaded the free trial of PSE 15 to try this out. It doesn’t look like yours. Is that due to the age of this video/version of PSE? Or is that because I only have the free trial?

      Cathy Zielske

Jen, yes! this is an old tutorial! But the steps are basically the same concept! I need to do an updated free digital tutorial. On my list.

If you have any questions, just shoot me an email! Happy to help!
