There's no way that was five minutes long

A blog reader sent me a link to a delightfully animated video showing the history of typography. It's no secret that I have a deep and abiding love of type. It's the very thing that pushed me out of a career in journalism and pulled me into one as a designer. Type geeks, you may find this as interesting as I did. It's stuff I knew and some that I didn't. Enjoy!

Thanks, Irene Andrews, for sending me this!

This was interesting. . .from someone who doesn’t “get” typography but is all the same fascinated by it (if that makes sense). Have you ever talked about fonts you use/prefer and why?

I LOVED this. Never knew the history of fonts, but being a fanatic about pen and paper, this was great!

My brother works for Apple, and has developed a couple of fonts over the years. Some people could shop for clothes all day – me? set me free in a stationery store, or on a digital font site, and you can pretty much fahgetta bout the rest of the day!

    Thanks for sharing this, Cathy!

Loved this! Thanks for sharing, and I second the motion made by JillT. I’d enjoy knowing your favorite fonts and why. That would make an interesting blog.

How cool! I think “Helvetica” is one of the most beautiful words in the world. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! I love fonts… and paper… and stuff like that. It’s nice to know I’m note alone. And I’m virtually raising my hand as another who’d like to know your favorite fonts.
