Did anyone happen to catch the Apple World Wide Developers Conference Keynote yesterday? (If the answer is 'no' and you need to see what you missed, click here.)
The announcement that Apple is finally delivering a new Mac Pro was big news in my book. I've been using Mac towers for years now, and my current Mac Pro is starting to show its age. Lots of reboots and buggy things and sloggy performance make me itchy for a new system.
Then there's the new OS coming later this year: Mavericks.
And if that doesn't look cool enough, iOS 7 is also on the way.
Seriously. It's almost too much geekiness to take in one sitting.
I think it will be interesting to see the web chatter unfold. Do people love the new iOS7? Do they hate it? I know that flat design is all the rage right now. I personally think it's interesting and fresh.
But more than that, I'm just really excited about technology right now. I am really curious to see how they'll be pricing those new Mac Pros. I've had my eye on a tricked out iMac, but now I may have to wait and see what shakes out.
So, Mac users, are you feeling the geek love? Or is it just another day at Apple?

I was so giddy watching all the announcements! This is the first Apple Event since I became an iMac user so I was even more excited about the updates that will come to not only my phone but my computer!

I did *squee* when I saw the new Mac Pro ZOMG I so want one. I was a Mac girl way back when but live in a Windows household (not counting all our iDevices lol)
Looking forward to iOS7 and there are some features that are making me want to update to the iPhone 5 but I’m hanging out for Septemberish (?) when they announce the new iPhone lol
Much more interesting that what’s been happening at E3 π

I watched the keynote…….I love the “Maverick” operating system! I have the iMac and the Macbook Pro but really want the new Mac Pro! Trying to convince myself that I need one π
It is all about the new design!

Geek love for sure!

I have an iMac and it, too, has been very flakey lately. I keep crashing A LOT…. white screen, completely black screen, tiny vertical striped screen…. no rhyme of reason and completely out of the blue. Took it to a local authorized dealer and of course, it passed all diagnostic tests that they could throw at it. (I was warned that I need to free up a little more space on my computer; I take 600 pics/month and think I have duplicate copies on my computer as I fear that dragging them into iPhoto saves yet another copy of them, besides the day-by-day archive of downloading them off of my camera). Keep thinking my Mac is dying a slow death with the recent string of crashes, freeze-ups and inability to force quit when nothing appears to be happening. (Think an upgraded OS is partly to blame, since it wasn’t doing any of this prior to my upgrade from fine-to-flakey.) Planning to remain Mac-loyal!

Simply measured did a great breakdown of twitter traffic during the announcement. http://twitter.com/simplymeasured/status/344257113666752513

I am so excited about the addition of tags to Finder and multiple windows! And all the changes to calendar and the other workflow stuff…sweet. Looks like I’m going to have to upgrade my phone to get all the cool stuff in 7 since I only have a 4 right now. I know my husband will be coveting that Pro but I’m sure it will be out of our budget. π

So many great additions! I want a Mac Pro – but not sure I’ll be able to afford it!

there are definitely some nice features coming up…but it’s best to wait and see whether Apple is just making too much noise. Hey, it only took them a decade to realize that all photos cramped unorganized in one folder in the phone is not so smart but they say “Eureka”? lol
We didn’t upgrade our comps to Mountain Lion because of some compatibility issues…I hope Mavericks will do better. Right now, I see no reason to give up my iMac, new Air or our little devices π

I thought I was the only “geek” who watched the entire keynote! The opening gave me goosebumps!! Love the new features…can’t wait until the fall. Oh, and I thought all the guys did a better job presenting. Three people in our household…3 giant iMacs, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, and one geek trying to figure out how to justify buying a MacPro. First world issues!!

I’m so happy! π

I absolutely geeked out watching the whole thing. I don’t even use iWork, but I was amazed watching that demo of the text floating around an image in real time…in a web browser! And a big YES to the design and specs of the new MacPros. I’m afraid to learn the price point, though. I’ll also admit to getting a bit…emotional…during the opening when they aired that piece on the purpose of design. I work as a designer and it felt like a pat on the back and a rallying call at the same time. Loved it.

I just can’t get excited about it. I’m waiting for really innovative things to be announced from Apple and it’s pretty much a rehashing of the same-old, same-old.
A lot of the things announced are already done on Android/BB phones (sliding up to unlock, multitasking, etc) on Google (google drive = iwork on icloud), and the Pandora-like music of iTunes Radio, and so on.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still an Apple fan (MBP laptop for work, iMac at home, iPhones & iPads) but I’m just disappointed that there’s nothing really revolutionary happening.

Yes! I loved that opening clip too. SO inspiring.

I really wanted to be excited by it. I wanted to see new products and innovative upgrades that would leave Androids and Google in the dust, but I have to agree with Ann. It seems as if they’re just trying to catch up to their competition. I was kind of disappointed.
And this is coming from a house filled with an iMac, Mac Book Pro, iPad, iPad mini, and multiple iPhones. And yeah, I’ll still upgrade to the iPhone 5s hopefully later this year.

I need to go back and watch the whole thing! I’ve been working on my 17″ MacBook Pro for over 5 years now and it is showing it’s age. I was planning on buying an iMac when we move back to the States in July, but now that I’ve seen the new Mac Pro, I may be getting that one instead! I’m loving the flat design! Very fresh and clean!
cathy says
I just saw that Mac Pro as a huge leap forward. Something Ive been waiting for for three years! : )

I am feeling the love. Unfortunately, I am not feeling the increase in income to get that Booootiful new Mac Pro tower. I am actively looking for a second job :).
