This is my favorite song right now. I hadn't heard it until I was in Slovenia, even though I hear it's been all over the radio state side. Our friend who got married made us a mix for our day trips in Slovenia and Get Lucky kicked off the mix and an extendid remix showed up at the end. At first, I was thinking, "Nice. I guess they want to 'get lucky'," and then after a few listens I fell in love with it.
Now, lucky me, I have a video guide for how to dance to it as well. Enjoy!

If Dan does a high kick or a split you MUST get a video of that…oh and if he wears polyester bell bottoms—>bonus!

Wow! That’s a serious fashion time capsule! I especially liked the hand-stitched heart with arrow on the crotch of dress pants look…for a man (obviously) =)

Oh Soul Train…*swoon* Such fun! The dance moves, the clothes, the hair! And now – let’s see the home vid of you and Dan recreating those moves. π
(If it makes you feel better – that’s the first time I’ve heard that song. Dig it. (I’ve been stuck in the land of Kids Place Live and Audiobooks for awhile now.))

Funny, I hear that song (and a few others) everyday and I was thinking they sounded like the 70s. This just confirms it! Love the video…took me back. I’m going to have to show my 14yo so he can see what we watched on TV (although it might just confirm his opinion that I am OLD). Thanks for the flashback!

I was fully expect a video of Cathy getting funky lucky. I’m rather disappointed now. I don’t know what I’m gonna do with the rest of my day. You always put a smile on my face except well right now. I’ll have to go find the videos of Cathy in the bee costume.

LOVE IT!! I love this song but never associated it with the 70s until now! Thanks for sharing! π

With a start like that, I am DYING to know the rest of the playlist. Playlist is such and iTunes word, what did we call it before?

Loved it! Now we need a video of you and Dan rockin’ it Minnesota-style!

I have seen this and love it. We watched Soul Train every Saturday after American Bandstand. They played it on WGN from Chicago. Ah memories. We would try to be so cool and dance like they did on TV.
Shereen says
Please tell me you have some of those cantaloupe colored pants to dance in.
Nita K. says
Love this!

Ha! That’s great! π I have to turn that song off whenever it comes on the radio because hearing my 8-year-old in the back seat singing about staying up all night to “get lucky” just makes me want to hurl. BUT, I do like the sound, and totally agree that it sounds like the 70’s. π Makes me want to watch the movie Roll Bounce. Surely, you’ve seen that one, Cathy? If not, do so! π
Jenny B. says
mix tape. π
Andrea says
That was awesome ! You’ve given me a great start to the day.
That is my favourite song of the summer ..thanks.

I’m always the one in the bunch to say “I’ve never heard it.” I get crazy looks. Even my little buggers will be singing songs way before my ears happen upon it. I’m a die hard ipod listener, I don’t venture out often buuuuttttt, I do know this one! Love your post. Thank you.
