Playing with Instagrams (free card download + tutorial)

Cathy ZielskeFree Downloads, Tutorials55 Comments

If you shoot with your phone, and especially if you use Instagram, chances are you have a slew of veritable masterpieces floating out there in pixel land. I know many of us memory keepers are including them more in more in our various methods: scrapbooks, Project Life albums, card projects, gift tags—the list goes on and on.

Today I have a very simple 3 x 4 layered card template designed to let you feature a favorite Instagram (or two, or a dozen). The template includes the Instagram logo plus a tag line using a free font called League Gothic.

These simple cards can be printed onto photo paper (or cardstock—see image below—for a cool look) and included in any memory keeping or card project.

Have fun playing with your photos!

Thanks very much Cathy. I’m about to go interstate for the weekend and have decided not to lug my DSLR with me so I think there will be quite a few iPhone pics to deal with when I get home.

Thanks Cathy I love it! Followed along with the tutorial and printed one out. I have PSE5 and I tried doing the sizing of the photo where you showed click on image hold and drag up to the top where the file name is but my version does not show the file names at the top of my screen. Any idea where that section is or how I get it to show up there?

YES, YES, YES! This is what I have been looking for, the thing I have been looking for but just not finding it and then you “give” it to us today. Thank you! I am going with my daughter, so-in-law and grandson (from a different daughter) to the Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago next week. What? A Comic Con? I know… I have celebrated to many anniversaries of my 29th birthday and I am going? Yep! My daughter and I went to it when she was just out of High School (2004 & 2005) and we had a blast! Do I read comic’s? Not really but she does. So I am putting together a little 6 x 6 scrapbook for my grandson while we are there. That way he will have something to show his parents when he gets back. I wanted it to be all put together and not have to wait. So I have borrowed my Mother’s Picture Maker Printer, so with my laptop and your wonderful template it will go together (along will all the goodies we pick up) much faster! YES, YES, YES! Thank you Cathy!

I was reading some ideas from Elsie (beautiful mess) on fun ways to get your pics off your phone/computer and on display. One idea was a cute box on a living room table with printed Instagram pics. These cards would be perfect to have out for visitors to flip through.

YOU ROCK! I was just lamenting my poor boring square photos with a blank card behind them in my PL album. Guess I’ll be doing some reprinting! Thanks a million Cathy!

Cathy, question about camera phones please…I am ready to upgrade my phone and the most important thing to me is that it has a great camera. I am trying to decide between an Iphone5 and a Galaxy4…what do you suggest? I know you are all about the Apple products; can you tell me if the Iphone takes good action shots? (ie sports) The phone I am trading in gave me blurred shots when I tried to shoot action at my son’s basketball or football games. Can you zoom in at all with the Iphone? I have been trying to read thru online reviews but there are so many and each says they are better than the last. Thank you for your time!

Thank you for yet another great template and video tutorial to go with it! You teach me soooo much. I appreciate it. Your design style is wonderful–crisp and clear and your tutorials are the same….so great to watch you do it in the tutorial and then be able to (successfully!!) go right into making my own. YAY!! Thanks!!

Thank you Cathy! I have 2 of those little easels that I picked up on clearance at Michaels over a year ago and have been putting off designing a template similar to the one you gave us today! I now have my 2 little easels on our fireplace mantle with 2 little cards on them (and I made a dozen more cards to be swapped for them too!) Your template is awesome!! Thank you for sharing it with us!
