The year is all but gone so here is a slightly subjective compendium of my favorite posts from 2013.
I just wanted to thank you, the blog readers, for coming here and reading, commenting and commiserating, and just making this a pretty safe place for me to share bits and pieces of my life.
Though I’m usually loathe to say, “STAY TUNED FOR BIG THINGS!” I should tell you that there are a lot of changes coming down the pike for 2014. I’m working with a pretty awesome company right now who are going to help me retool this online place in the coming months and make it more of what I think it can and should be. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me and I hope the changes will be something that resonates with readers like you.
All I can say is stay tuned.
Here’s to a healthy, happy and authentic 2014.
Love,
Enjoy, and I’ll see you next year.

FAVORITE POST ABOUT MARRIAGE—22 years and counting. A list of sorts.

Cathy,
I have read all of these posts, but thinking about them as a recap of the year, made them more special.
Im with you. I love the Apple TV commercial and I tear up everytime I see it, because that is me. Taking pictures and videos when no one is looking. Love it.
Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

Happy New Year to you! I too am looking forward to big things in the new year! A little note about the favorite thing you saw this year. We were at the hubs side of the family annual Christmas, where after 30+ years I still feel the need to put up a good front. We were all in the family room with the tv on mute when my daughter nudges me and says, “oh I love this commercial”. Well you can imagine what happens next. They’re all still playing trivia and I’m having an ugly cry, and pretty much can’t stop myself! Turned out ok. Started a conversation about things that make them all cry (women only of course). Still can’t watch it without weeping.

What changes. Coming down what pike. Will I still be able to choose my own doctor?

Cathy – I have been reading your blog for many years now, and it’s one of the few that has stayed true and not full of posts like – “Ten Things You Need to Know Today,” or “Three Reasons Why You Need to Do This.” I’ve found that many blogs are just repeating the same content over and over in catchy ways. Your’s doesn’t. It gives us a great information on creativity/design and documenting memories, and also glimpes into your life that are very genuine. I really appreciate that. Thank You!!

when that apple commercial was over i actually made my husband rewind the tv and watch it again. OMG! Best Commercial EVER!
Tonya says
Okay, the Apple commercial got me, too. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Thought of my boy turned 11 this past year. Who has always been an introvert. When he was a toddler, I would see my good friend at Wally-World and her children would be smiling and laughing and wanting to talk. He would look away.
Anyway, the commercial came on TV and I started tearing up. I looked over at him and he was snorting and rolling his eyes. He thought it was the dumbest thing ever.
How will I survive when he is a teen?!
Good thing he still surprises me with a hug good night once in a while.

Thanks for the faves list. I read all your posts but sometimes you forget what you’ve seen over the course of a year.
I, too, love that Apple commercial. It was filmed in the beautiful city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, just about 20 minutes from where I live. We currently have snow like that but it has been a little chilly for some of those outdoor activities!! Around the -20 range for a while now with more snow on the way! Happy New Year to you Cathy!

Cathy – so looking forward to what you have planned for 2014. I read your blog every single day and you inspire me, you teach me and you just make me laugh (or cry), depending on what you are sharing at the time! Thanks for what you bring to the table all year and for what you will bring to my life in 2014!
And I weep like a baby every single time I see that Apple commercial, too. Great marketing tool!

Thanks, Martha. Im shooting to stay truer to that path in 2014. : )

Somehow I missed your post about the couch when it was originally posted. Love that your son looks about the same age (maybe a tad older) as your husband in the 2 pics. Also, looks like there’s someone by your son in front of the couch – could that perhaps be his grandma? So each boy would be with his grandma in the pics? I may have taken too many classes from Stacy – I’m noticing connections everywhere!
Thanks for always entertaining and inspiring your readers!

Happy New Year, Cathy! I look forward to more awesomeness from you in 2014! One question about the PictureMate–are you plugging it directly into your Mac and printing from CS programs? Any compatibility issues with the software or printing from any programs? Thanks!

<3 your year-end wrap up. You are one of the few people whose blogs I continue to read, whose FB pages I follow – whose life and business just resonate with me. Your commitment to being transparent and honest inspires me to do the same.
If only I could find a magic therapist whose methods and philosophy clicked with me – and then talk my other half into participating. We've made it through 30 years, including facing money issues for the first time ever over the last four years I've been unemployed. But some third-party tuneups would be great.
I'm totally curious about your new adventures for 2014! You and Ali Edwards are venturing onto new paths. I am so excited to see where these paths take each of you. I trust that you will continue to be the person I've grown to know and love – simply improved and wittier and more awesome than ever.
Please thank your children. They so graciously support your storytelling and photo taking – there are many their age who would be boycotting any parental sharing of their life stories!
cathy says
Yes, plugged into my Mac and working fine from the CC (Creative Cloud) and CS. I just had to download the drivers, which happened automatically when I plugged it in.
cathy says
I will thank my children. Thats a good idea, I mean, because they have let me share/exploit them somewhat, if you think about it. Of course, last year Cole made it known he didnt want to appear in this space as much, and I totally honored that. But yes, my goal is to keep with what feels authentic. Not worry so much about pleasing everyone, but try to use this space well. I appreciate you for keeping with me here. : ) Happy new year.

Thanks for the recap Cathy. I missed a few of those posts. That still picture from the Apple commercial is the precise moment that I lose it every time!
I’m doing Move More Eat Well Jumpstart & I can’t wait to kick off the New Year with this class.
Thanks for all work you put into your classes & blog posts. They are a bright spot in my day!! 🙂

Hi Cathy, I just wanted to say thank you for all of the great creative inspiration over the years, and especially a big thank you for the motivation this year in particular that you gave me to enjoy the Project Life process. I actually finished a whole album this year, which is a first. I think it was going 100% digital that finally made it click for me. I look forward to seeing what you’ve got up your sleeve for 2014! Happy New Year!

Good for you, Sally! : ) I know going digi helped me to get it done!
