How I adore you. Your beautiful Fall color. Your crisper, cooler temps. Your 31 glorious days, which include both Halloween and the 23-year anniversary of my marital union.
But the thing I think I love most about you? You are, hands down, the most Instagram-worthy month of the year. Yep. I said it. You might be even better on Instagram than—GASP—Christmas.
Okay, so I have a thing about pumpkins. I can’t help it. They’re just so… orange.
But really, all the gourd-filled images in the world can touch the Mother Ship of All Things October.
Yes. We are in rehearsals as I speak.
(And by ‘we’ I mean me, the antennae and a very select few song choices.)
Are you a fan of October? By all means, tell me how and why.

I’m actually a spring girl, every year I can’t wait for the first leaves to pop up and these cherry trees to blossom but I must admit that your pictures brought a huge smile on my face (ah, these gorgeous reds and oranges and pumpkins…. – just yesterday I was telling my husband how these might be my favourite vegetables of all). So, welcome October!
Lida says
Bring it on, Bee!
Cindy says
Love your photo, with the woodgrain brown of your deck, the orange and texture of the pumpkin, and the warmth of the brown coffee and white mug…definitely project life worthy as well as instagram worthy! Somehow can’t stop humming…Bee Prepared!!!
Michelle says
I love fall and especially October. Every year, we go to an awesome corn maze which is so much fun!! And Halloween is my second favorite holiday! Love your posts on Instagram! Happy October!

I love when you pull the bee costume out. I’m afraid to say though that there appears to be pilling on the sides of the bee. Might it be time for a new bee??? I love October for the changing leaves, the pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING and, yes, even Halloween.

Go October! Michelle t

I am totally a fan of October! Love the cooler temps and it always means we survived another Arizona summer. Hooray for fall! Hooray for pumpkins! And hooray for the bee costume! :o)
Liz Eaton says
Agree. I love fall! I wish I had more of a season here in AZ, but still, love it!
Can’t wait to see the bee come alive!

Yep, I love October! Bring on the changing of the leaves, my anniversary, my birthday, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin pancakes, Halloween (which I highly recommend a Canival Cruise for as they do up the Costume Party right!), candy corn, chilly mornings that are great for hot tea and a throw while reading a book, crafting gets back in full swing for me this time of year. Fall festivals with pumpkins, and apple picking! I think this may be the year I go to my first pumpkin patch, typing what I love about October has inspired me! Thanks and Happy October!
Cyndi says
In October I am frequently late to work because I have to pull over so often to take photos. One must have priorities.

October has always been my favorite month too! I was born on the third, 27 years later my oldest son was born on the fifth and 19 years ago this month my youngest daughter was born on the 12th. I love pumpkins, crisp fall leaves and anything to do with Halloween but most especially candy corn!
Heather Huggins says
ILOVE October… My birthday is Halloween!!!

October is the best!! It is the gateway month to all of the holidays…therefore it is addictive. I love that the world seems to slow down while simultaneously speeding up. It is our anniversary of marital union, as well. It is the most obvious and significant of the changing seasons…at least in SE Idaho.
Lynn M says
Pumpkins, candy, sweater weather, my birthday & wedding anniversary month! There is something so special about October. Oh, AND your new class which starts ON my birthday! Woo, hoo! Can’t wait.
Nicky H says
I love your fall pics. I love fall. I love the colors of fall. My family and I are in the middle of a move and don’t have our household goods (or fall decor) yet. 2 more weeks before I can decorate! And I moved across the country to the southeast, so I have no idea if I’ll see any lovely red leaves here. (Do red mushrooms count?! We have those!)
Kim Jackson says
I love October for its official fall-ness here in Iowa
Jenny B. says
I’m a fan of October because seeing you dance in your bee costume was the highlight of my fall last year. 😉
Muerinda herrera says
Yay for the bee costumer. What’s going on with the pumpkin that looked like it was ehmm…attacked by birds? Living in AZ it’s hot but I love when the evenings start cooling off and you know the mornings will be cool too.
Cathy Zielske says
I’m not exactly sure. Someone said that if a pumpkin grows too close to… oh man, I can’t remember. Something about gourds of other types. 🙂
Muerinda Herrera says
This is why I love you Cathy! You have the best sense of humor when it comes to these types of comments. I’m suffering the blues from my oldest going off to college in another state. I appreciate your posts about these feelings.
Cathy Zielske says
Hang in there, Mama! It gets better! : )
Sara says
I love the reflection of the sky in your coffee cup. I too love fall. Love the beautiful trees, pumpkins, mums, pumpkin pie, apples. We have apples trees that are full of delicious apples, this year. So happy to get a break from buying apples. 🙂 The only bummer thing, as you know Cathy, is that winter is soon to follow and after last winter I don’t know if I can handle another one. Ugh!
AngieF says
LOVE fall. October is my FAVE too! It’s my birthday MONTH!! YIPPEE!!
Jana says
Love, love, love, October – autumn, leaves of gold, red, burgundy, cooler temps, the return of RAIN finally, followed by sunny, puffy cloud days (today), fog that burns off into glorious sunshine, BOOTS!, cozy scarves and jackets, gourds and pumpkins, sheaves of corn stalks, crunchy dry leaves underfoot, Halloween parties, prepping for art studio tours/sales, Love October!
Cheryl :) says
I love October…especially when the trees start to “glow” as they change color. Can hardly believe it’s been a year since we’ve seen the “bee dance”.
Theresa Grdina says
I LOVE October!! It’s my birthday month and I make sure the family makes it special! ha ha!!!! AND, I look forward to all of the bee costumes coming out of the closet and getting used!!! 😉
Kristi says
YEP – The only thing I do NOT like about it is that we are pushing close to winter…. My brother was born on Halloween (BEST.BIRTHDAY.EVER) so I have loved October my whole life. I mean, really, what is NOT to love about dressing up and going door to door for FREE candy??
Danielle says
Heck yeah! Fall is my fav!! It’s my 13th anniversary (just 10 years behind you). And the most beautiful time of the year!
Abby P says
First photo, in your coffee, I love the reflection of the blue, cloudy sky and the half-circle “blue” reflection in the shape of a smile…and it’s saying, “YES! Here’s to October!”
Karen says
I am too a big fan of October and all things orange – pumpkins, candycorn, pies, leaves, etc. Can’t wait to see your Bee Dance!!! You rock Cathy!
Holly Corbett says
I’m anxiously awaiting this year’s bee dance…. 🙂

Wendy Reale says
Something about “they’re just so… Orange” has infected my brain with Baby Got Back and I’ve been walking around singing it since I read this 2 days ago. Changing it up every now and then with the Zielske version. “Oh my god… Cathy, look at her bats… “
Cathy Zielske says
Okay, that is a comment to laugh out loud at. Now it’s in MY head!
Gypsy Chaos says
SO I’m playing catch up…..
October has got to be one of the BEST months for weddings! Our 31st anniversary was October 8. My siblings also chose Columbus Day weekend for their weddings. My twins were born on the 19th, my dad on the 22nd. Yup, October is a great month.
