They say to have a popular blog, you should fill it with engaging photos of people, places and things.
Aidan, in our home, on our couch. BOOM!
She cut her hair off last week and holy cute, is it adorable.
Only once in her life did I disapprove of a hairstyle. She was 7 and got her bangs cut while on a hair cut outing with her Dad. I didn’t love it and she knew it.
I have apologized to her for that ridiculous reaction for years.
It’s not my head.
You go girl.
And with that, we’re off to her University of Minnesota New student orientation.

Love it! Enjoy orientation. Go gophers!
Hope she feels more grounded at the new school. Good luck!
Looks great, Aiden!
I’m sure you sometimes post a photo of yourself from that age looking very similar.
Holy gorgeous! Enjoy the orientation – sending lots of warmth and wishes that this is a good fit. xo from both me and Claire π
I don’t see posts like this as filler at all – I love the mix of scrap booking, real life & family life. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day together!!
Love her bravery to try new things!
OMG I love that cut! Would you ask Aidan if she would model all sides of it so that I can show my hairdresser? That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do with my hair, but she doesn’t really get it.
Lynne, I have a few more snaps. You can email me!
I wonder the same thing.
Aidan is beautiful and young and her face shape is gorgeous. I am old and average and have a blockhead. Not sure I can get away with such cute hair. Nonetheless, I would love to see the sides and back, too!
My son Jack is at the U and loves it! I did, too, back in the 80s!
Fab hair! Have a brilliant time at the orientation, I hope it works out really well for her.
Go Aidan! Love the ‘do! Let’s hear it for new adventures.
That is an awesome haircut. It says so much … I’m whimsical & fun. I’m well groomed but not high maintenance. I’m smart & confidant. I am in control.
I love it !
She is so cute! I’ve watched her grow up in your spreads since the Simple Stories days. I knew she’d be a beauty.
Duh. Not Simple Stories…Simple Scrapbooks. :/
you make good babies!
Spitting image of her mom! Love the new haircut!
Ditto Lida! Looks just like her mom. π
This girl can pull-off ANY look! Gorgeous!
A spitting image of you Cathy
I love the new hair Aidan!
There are not many people who can carry off that look, however your child can do anything to her head and look amaze balls! I wish I was as brave!
She is gorgeous. I wish I had the face to pull off short hair. You and Aidan totally rock it.
oh my cathy you look beautiful haha…amazing how much this girl looks just like you!
Best of luck to Aidan – hope she finds what she is looking for!
Enjoy wandering around Coffman – it’s a pretty vibrant place most days. π
I’m going to say Go Aidan! Can’t say go Gophers. I’m an MIZZOU Tiger. You know. I think there was a bowl game recently??
Had to laugh when I read your comment about not liking the results of her hair cut outing with Dan. My mom didn’t speak to me for several days after I got my hair cut REALLY short one time….and I was 18! I was supposed to just be getting my below-the-shoulders long hair trimmed and came home with Carol Brady’s haircut (it was 1974) so mom was mainly just in shock. She got over it and I never got my hair cut that short again!
Yeah, my mom to this day doesn’t like my hair. Ha!
And Aidan looks beautiful!
Good luck with orientation. Sending vibes….and I LOVE the new haircut for the new adventure.
Great look, Aidan. Good luck with orientation and your new school.
Oh my God, is she gorgeous! Look out, Uof Minn!
Love it! Good luck at orientation.
Nice hair… someone looks like mummy π
It was pretty long but I have to say you ladies totally pull of pixie cuts! I’ve tried short hair but I usually look like I have a mushroom on my head. I’m also a messy bun girl 99% of the time while I’m at home. Sorry the break and having her home is coming to an end π One a few more months and she’ll hopefully be home for Spring Break then home for Summer!
She is drop dead gorgeous no matter the hair style!!
Oh yes! Love it.
Your daughter is stunning! I love the haircut on her (but am sure she would look good with her hair any style). I must’ve missed the news though…is she transferring to the U?
And btw, I do like the balance in your blog topics
Thanks, Michelle! And yes, I included it in a post about December Daily. She is officially a Golden Gopher. Got all signed up for classes and is ready to start later this month. π
She is adorable π
oh my goodness — gorgeous!
Whoa that girl rocks short hair for sure. And wow she is the spitting image of you!
Lookin more like her mamma!! cutie!!
wow! Stunning! I wish I had the guts and head to go that short! She looks amazing, so mature, and incredibly sophisticated!
She is stunning. Love the new look. I wish Aidan well as she starts her new school.
Dress warm for that tromp across campus π
This wind chill stuff is treacherous!
More than any shot you’ve shown of her in the last decade this one looks just so like you. When I saw it come up on Facebook my first thought was a young Cathy post. Beautiful
My own mother has been forbidding me to cut my hair short for 40 years (this is going to make my therapist rich beyond imagination). I love it so much when you say it’s not your head! And it makes me so glad Aidan chose to be happy and not stick to what made her unhappy. Good luck!
Oh Za, I can save you some money. It’s because it’s not about you, it’s not your hair. It’s THEIR hair and THEIR ideas of what you should look like. I paid some good money to find that one out. π
You’re wise (and funny) and wise again, thank you! π
Oh to be young and beautiful. Very Audrey Hepburn.
Hi Cathy! I am just beginning to get into hybrid scrapbooking, and I simply adore your work. π I’m good at using templates, adding word art to photos and the very basic stuff in PSE, but there are tools I still don’t know how to use. I was wondering if you have a tutorial on how to draw a straight line and add a circle to a photo like you did in the First Kiss layout you did for Ali Edwards?
Hey Jennifer! Thanks for the kind words. You know, I don’t have a tutorial on that. I did the stuff for Ali’s class mostly in PS but did my little sample video in PSE.
I’m working on some ideas for a hybrid workshop that might incorporate more advanced stuff like that!
Aidan looks cute and sophisticated, all at once.
I admire her. A new do, a new school, a fresh start!
Best wishes to Aidan, as she starts this next chapter of her life.
Ps. I think the new haircut, calls for an Aidan, hairstyles – through the years… scrapbook layout. LOL!!
She is gorgeous.
I had a short do in college but grew it out because in the 80s even the guys were wearing makeup and I got called “sir” too many times. She is gorgeous in, well, any doo.
Ah yes, the “sir” factor. Happened to me a ton when I was younger. Occasionally it still does.
Love the hair cut…thought Aidan was going to Univ of WI, did she transfer? Inquiring blog readers want to know…ha ha!
Yes! She did. I posted about it in December in a December Daily post. π She starts classes today!
