April came to a close and on {inter} National Scrapbook Day I sat down at my computer to pull together my Project Life pages for the month. (Side note: Can we just change the name of NSD? Who can I talk to about this? I saw it referred to as World Scrapbook Day and I really like that. Can we officially just change it for next year?)
I’m keeping with the monthly format and so far, so good. One thing I definitely did not do much of last month was to jot things down in my Day One app. This app can be so helpful for just keeping track of stuff that happens during this month. But this is all I wrote for April:
You should know this app is on both my phone and my computer and it prompts me four times daily with a “what’s going on?” and lately I’ve just been clicking cancel. I need to be more mindful because even though there are just a few prompts, it did remind me to write about Aidan getting her license and Cole performing at his school. Also, I have no idea why I wrote “SERENITY NOW!” on April 3rd. Something was up but we’ll never know what that something was.
That said, I took 300 photos last month and culled them down to make four pages. Most of the images were shot with my iPhone 6.
Note: Dan tried to take a panoramic shot on his iPhone, resulting in the freaky Half of Cole’s body is Missing image you see above. And yes, that is snow on the ground. Oh, Minnesota!
I used a handful of cards from my Project Life Value Kit and one other digital stamp, but otherwise, I’m keeping it very simple in 2015. At this rate of 4 pages per month, my book will about 48 pages, which seems a little on the small side but maybe it will be perfect! Of course, this format is flexible. I will likely have months with more photos and stories, and other months with fewer. Time will tell.
But April is officially done.

Always enjoy your PL layouts.
I need to download the Day One app to keep me on track.

Your pages are always an inspiration and extremely helpful when doing my monthly PL!

Why thank you, Heidi!

PL a month at a time … pure brilliance! Especially for those of us ‘over-thinkers’ …

WHOOT! I love seeing your monthly updates – really helps keep me going.
And regarding your April 10th Day One App entry, I would be totally down with even monthly (layered!) digital card sets from you. I’d love some more designs that go with the Minimal Basics that I can quickly pull out and use, but my life is lived in slightly more muted colors. Where you have your awesome bright green wall, I have a deep, dusky blue. 😀
I’m loving your new approach. By doing a mix of weekly and monthly and sticking with the just the two sets of Minimal Basics 12 x 12, I think I am actually going to keep up and be happy with the end result!

Fun pictures! 🙂 I didn’t get my license until I was 19 either. I just wasn’t in a big hurry. It’s a funny story to tell that my now-husband knew me before I had a license and let me practice parallel parking behind his vehicle. True love! lol
I need to do a better job of recording things, too. From 3/27 to today I haven’t written anything down. I take a picture a day (miss one once in a while) and try to hang on to interesting ephemera (I’m doing physical PL). It’ll all shake out in the end.

Beautiful. I love your photos, too. That ukulele pic made me laugh, again. Cool. Thanks. Michelle t

Another lovely simple layout which I love. Just thought you might like to know that I am away from home (Sydney, Australia) for 3 months. I have my laptop all set up with your digital basic minimal templates and I am documenting as I go. Well I have done Hong Kong and just starting London as I arrived only a few days ago. Then France and Italy. My intention is to have a book printed out like you showed us in a video of your PL 2014 book.
I find it much easier to do as I go as I find that it’s too big to tackle when I get back and I forget so many little things. Thanks for the inspiration. Oh yes, if I can ask, what font is the jornaling. I’m not too happy with the font I’m using. Is it a free font? or is there another font like it that I can download for free. Sorry it’s just that I have so many and don’t want to buy more.
Cathy Zielske says
Hey Christina!
The font I’m using is Archer, not a free font, and the sans serif is Avenir, also not free. The template, however, comes with a free font I love called Bariol. 🙂

Just realized you have no drop shadow on your template. Is it just a stroke on the photos, then? I’m loving them.
