Savoring the strangely warm days of this early November. I know I’m not fooling myself. I live in Minnesota. The cold is coming, people.
Eating this vegan soup recipe, like, a lot. No, I’m not becoming a vegan but honestly? If vegan food tastes this good, there needs to be more of it in my diet. Seriously though. This soup? With a little lime squeeze in and a bit of cilantro? It’s everything.
Loving these pajamas from Target. I bought two pair. They are the softest PJs ever. I mostly just bought them for the pants and that said, there is one tiny problem in that they seem to be designed for someone who is roughly 6’2. I am 5’6. So I had one pair hemmed. The other pair have yet to be hemmed. My God, this is turning into the dullest list item ever. If you’re tall or love having things hemmed, they are PERFECT. Moving on…
Caring for a boy with a sprained ankle. Cole made one unfortunate pivot while playing ultimate last weekend and is on crutches for a bit. No bone breaks, that’s the good news.
Worrying about my girl who may have suffered a mild concussion while also playing ultimate. I know you may be thinking, “What is up with ultimate?” I assure you, it’s like any sport and carries risk of injury. It just wasn’t a good week for Zielske offspring.
Working on the Winter issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine and the new 2016 Creative Planner. I designed the planner with a very minimal aesthetic and it’s really geared towards scrapbookers. I also created a little mini stamp set that is designed to work with the calendar. Fun stuff I get to work on, I tell ya. (Note: supplies are limited for the mini stamp set, so… you know, if you want ’em, now is the time to order. Click here for more info.
Documenting my daily gratitudes via my 30 Days of Thankful eCourse. Yep, you can still join the class. Plenty o’ time, ladies.
Formulating some ideas for a year long class in the vein of the former Move More, Eat Well. As I’m reconnecting to the idea that I can actually live a more healthy life, I’m reminded again and again how attitude and accountability come into play. I miss the accountability that year long format gave me and guess what? Now I have my own classes site so what am I waiting for?
Preparing to go see Joe Jackson in concert tonight. Joe slays me live. I’ve seen him twice. He’s such an amazing performer. (This is my favorite song of his of all time. If he plays it, I will melt into the floor.)
That’s all that’s going on here. What about you?

Wishing the Zielske offspring speedy recoveries, seriously hope all is well. Enjoy the concert, that sounds beyond awesome, and, yeah, great song. That stamp set rocks and is so you. Michelle t

Ordered – my planner and stamps. I looked at them earlier in the week, thought about it and thought “I’ll do it later”. Thanks for the heads-up about the limited number of stamps, I’d have been bummed to miss out just through procrastination! Now they will be on their way to me. I knew I liked them, I didn’t realise it was because they are a CZ special 🙂
I have high hopes for this planner helping me to be more mindful about my blog posts and the like…

Thanks for the recipe, totally trying that!
Make sure Aidan rests, rests, rests. It’s probably the last thing she wants to do at that age, but it’s so important.

Great list! Do tell how JJ was! I was just listening to Stick Around and tapping my feet and missing the 80s in a big way. 🙂

HiYa! I’m behind on commenting…but I want to say, that was the MOST incredible BEE dance ever!!! I hesitate to tell you where I first saw it (in the ladies room at a favorite restaurant, when I needed a few minutes of peace & a smile put on my face, so THANK YOU for that!!). But I should add that I also watched it three times more (at last count), at my house, in more appropriate places than the ladies room, lol. Still…lots of smiles, and laughs. You totally ROCKED it 😀
AND…want to say, that I love coming here to check in with you. Always a pleasure, and inspiring. Was never really on the fence about signing up for your class. Just hadn’t really done it yet. Then today…after a horrible incident at my house, involving one of my dogs, and a friends dog, who is now hospitalized, but thankfully on the mend (ohherecomethetears)…well, today was the straw. It is definitely time for me to not only BE more thankful, but to make an awesome reminder, to express more gratitude every day.
So thank you, for this 😀
Cathy Zielske says
Hey Robin, thanks for signing up! For sure. 🙂 Sounds like you had a bit of a day. Hang in there woman!

I hope everyone gets to feeling better. I just ordered the planner…this is my first official ‘planner’. Looks fun.

Great list! I love Joe Jackson- so jealous! My favorite song- Happy Loving Couples. Also agree on too hot for November. The soup looks delish and the Creative planner looks fun. Thanks!

If you organize it, we will come – sign me up anytime for another installment of MMEW! I love your real approach to pursuing a healthy life when there are so many unattainable models out there, and the freedom that gives me to get back up and try again along with you.

What about me? Are you sure you want to know?
A new round of chemo rendered me useless and bed bound. Really p*sses me off because I had everything prepared fo 30 days of thankful. My right hip and right leg are twice as big as they used to be and pain is indescribably and so is my mood. Homesick for my home country, Holland, want to see my girl and hold her, want to see my 2 grand babies and hold them.
Every year around November, Christmas we say, ah maybe next year, but next year never comes.
To top this all off the only medication on the market for a different illness but that helped to keep me out of the vegetative state is pulled off the market. Just like that. Poof! Gone! No FDA involved. I guess the manufacturer found he didn’t make enough money.
I bet he will be back in three months with a 1000% increase in price.
I try to keep up with my 30 days while lying on my side and working on my iPad luckily I have an iPad stand. I tell you in all this misery it’s hard to find thankfulness. But I’ll get there, somehow, I know I will. This is going to be an awesome album! I’m certain oh that. If I make it through this I have more that 30 days to be thankful for! 🙂
Now, aren’t you glad you asked?
Cathy Zielske says
Ah, Tink, it’s an understatement to say this completely sucks. Ugh. Sucks big time (I know, I’m so eloquent.) But I can’t truly imagine, because I’ve never had to go through the kind of thing you have to go through. Hang in there. Vent away all you like.

Man, I haven’t thought of Joe Jackson of ages but now I’m listening to the oldies on You Tube. My fave? ” You Cant Get What You Want…”
Wellness to all the Zielske chicks, Mama.
Cathy Zielske says
Okay the version they did last night was ridiculous it was so good. It was like the 6th song in and already the whole place was on its feet.
Kay Gregory-Clark says
Done—the planner, that is. I passed it up last year, but when I read above that you designed it, I decided I had to have one to add to my collection of CZ “stuff.” Just like I subscribed to the magazine when you came onboard. I’m thankful for CZ!

p.s. I love your photo of the leaves.

So I clicked on the link … and I was transported back to those crazy student days in the late 70s. I know, I’m ancient! Summer holidays in the Australian bush were all about chilling’. And I kept clicking and listening and remembering. Aah. Good feeling. Then I had to backtrack and listen to them all again so that I could remember where I started! Thanks CZ. Still smiling.

Cathy, have you heard the piece on which Hometown is based? It’s Pachelbel’s Canon in D major. If not, you should check it out.

Hi Cathy,
Thanks so much for trying my lentil soup recipe. To be honest with you I’m not a vegan either, I just love my vegetables and I have a son with a dairy allergy so a lot of my recipes are vegan. I’m really glad you liked it, and I have to agree 100% that you have to use the lime to finish the dish. Thanks again!
Cathy Zielske says
TIna! Seriously. Thank you. It’s so good and such a great calorie bang for the buck. Will be checking out more of your site for sure!
Tena says
I made the red lentil coconut vegan soup yesterday…. Oh my goodness! One of the best soups I have ever had. Thanks for linking to the recipe! Tena

Yes! It is really good, huh Tena? 🙂
