I know. This post screams LOOK AT ME. But that’s actually what this post is about and here’s the story.
Facebook is a wonderful way to share all manner of info with your Page Likers. New products, new classes, a stellar article written about The X-Files… but the reality is, unless I pay Facebook, you don’t see the stuff I’m sharing. I came across a great article written by the folks behind the Brave Girls Club and I wanted to share the info with you, especially if you have interest in seeing more from me than what I post here. I’m going to co-opt a bit of their info for you. Ready?
There are two ways you can see more from my Facebook page.
- Get Notifications—quick to do, but doesn’t give you quite the full access.
- Interests Lists—A great way to get the info you want, but will require a few steps from you.
Getting notifications is simple. Just go to my Facebook page and under Liked, click on Get Notifications.
That’s one way, but there is a better way and it’s called creating an Interest List.
First, go to your News Feed, and look at the left-hand column. Click on the word Interests.
Next, click on Add Interests.
Next, click on Create List.
After you click Create List, you’ll see a box with all the pages you like. This is what mine looks like (and yes, my inner 14-year-old geek will fly my Weird Al flag loud and proud!):
Next, type in “Cathy Zielske Design“.
Then give your list a name. I have a suggestion:
You can even just call it “Cathy Zielske Design” for simplicity’s sake.
Click Done and the now the list will appear in your Interests list.
Go back to your main News Feed and hover your cursor over the new list and you’ll see the gear icon to the left. (Or click on More to see your full list of Interests.) Click on the gear and then click on Add to Favorites.
And that’s how you can easily see what I’m sharing if you are so inclined. The link to your list will be in that column to the left of your main news feed.
I use Facebook for all kinds of things these days. Yes, of course, I use it to promote my business but I also love to share bits of internet goodness when I find it.
I hope this helps if you’re someone who would like to see more of that goodness!
Have a great day and I’ll see you on Facebook.

On Android (at least on my phone), it’s a little different. Go to your feed and click on “Pages”, then search for Cathy Zielske Design. When the page comes up, mine has a thumbs up symbol for “Like” Click on that and you’re following Cathy’s page.

Thanks for that, Deborah! 🙂 I forget people follow FB stuff on phones, too. Doh. This is just the web approach, but I think it would translate then TO your phone. 🙂

Thanks for the great info. I had no idea.

Too bad it doesn’t work on my iPad and iPhone. That is the only place I look at Facebook. It is my lunch break treat.
Cathy Zielske says
I’ll have to look into how to do it on a phone. 🙂 I know if you do it on your computer, then it’s available as a list on your phone… or I think it is! I’ll look into it!

Also not a Facebook user so probably missing out on all the cool kids (& private groups community) but life is choices….
Cathy Zielske says
You’re not missing out. Trust me. It’s just another way for me to communicate with people and Facebook has really shut it down for businesses unless they are willing to pay to play.

thank you so much for your newsletter today, Cathy. It made me so happy to read it because I never want to be “catch up”. Only with project life. Because it is fun to have ready PL albums LOL But the layouts… ah, I really enjoy having all those photos to scrap, the perspective of having so many layouts waiting to be scrapped is a really great one. It is where I want to be 🙂

Done and DONE! Thanks for the tutorial – you da bomb (still). MUAH!

thanks for the info Cathy. I had to kick the teen off my laptop so that I could make the list according to the steps you listed… and i hope that means it comes through on my phone. my android is the main source of my FB fix on a day to day basis!!
Two things I’d like to mention – and I KNOW you can’t control them!! – A) Why does FB have to make it so dang hard for me to get the info that I’ve already said I wanted??? B) if FB is going to make it hard for us to actually get the info we WANT to see, why can’t they just have the same instructions no matter the platform….??? whhhyyyyyyy???
OK. gripe done 😉

Sometimes I have my gripes about Facebook, too. 🙂
