Fit 2016 is moving steadily along and something is starting to happen this year that hasn’t happened in all the years combined that I’ve been striving to take better care of myself.
I’m actually managing to be less black and white without going off the deep-end into “hey, let’s eat like total and complete shit” land.
Apparently, I can do better.
In the past, it’s been black and white or nothing. One little slip up in the proper care and feeding of me and it would take me weeks to get back on track. This year, my attitude has been exactly where it needs to be: in Responsibility Land.
Responsibility Land… it might not sound like a great place to be, but I’ll be damned if I don’t feel freer than ever before when I connect to the fact that I am the only one responsible for taking care of myself. That’s it.
Dan ain’t gonna do it for me.
My kids can’t do it for me.
And Oprah can’t do it for me, either.
It’s my task. Period.
I think 50 is going to be a great year for me. No, not everything in my life is firing on all pistons, but my attitude toward taking responsibility for all my shit? That is exactly where I want to be.
It’s where I need to be.
This is pretty much the attitude I bring to Fit 2016. My students know that my pep talks are based in reality and not on some promise of “do this and you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams!” If this sounds like something you need, consider joining us. I am keeping the class open until July 31st. If you want a kick in the motivation, I might have just what you need.

I can’t help but smile at the irony of the B&W photo. 🙂

OmG! Totally is making me laugh right now. Didn’t even see the symbolism of that. LOL!

I just love hearing you say this. I am a personal trainer and get so frustrated at the black and white mentality. Life just isn’t that way. There has to be room for life to come in and screw up the “perfect” eating plan or exercise regimen. You just have to do the best you can with what you have and realize this is not a sprint but a lifelong marathon. “Better” is SO MUCH HAPPIER and FORGIVING! I have watched you on this journey and am so proud of you for your perseverance for a fit life. You look awesome. Keep up the good work and stay crap free my friend!

I just signed up today for your class…I can’t wait to get started. I was reading your post the other day about your fitbit and decided it might just be a tool that would do me some good and…it has. I’m in a challenge group right now that is really good at getting me up and going, since, you know…I have to win!! 🙂
