This week I secured the rights to both of my books (Clean & Simple Scrapbooking and Clean & Simple Scrapbooking: The Sequel). I know that sounds weird, right? You don’t have the rights to the books you wrote? I’m not completely clear on it all myself but I finally negotiated a fair deal and I’m presently knee-deep in converting the files to eBook format.
A few weeks ago, I unearthed a stash of books in my closet and put those for sale in my shop, but having the eBooks will allow a quick, digital way to get the same content.
My books were designed in Quark Xpress, a program I no longer even have on my computer so I had to purchase a slick—but pricey—plug in called Q2ID. It converts old Quark files into Indesign files and I can’t lie: it’s FREAKING magic, people. I don’t know if you ever have cause to do conversions, but I will testify. That shit works.
It’s been so fun to have the actual files to work on. I’m going to update the type in the book to make a more readable eBook document, plus I might even add an updated intro for each book. That remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more info.

I have the originals!!! They rock, of course. They’ve made it through many purges and will make it through the next one as a supreme design resource.

I have the #2 book and I’m looking forward to getting #1 on digital.

I bought the first book years ago and recently purchased the second book. I have book one to thank for understanding leading, column width, trapped space and proper mixture of fonts. When I took the Design Your Life and Clean & Simple classes, many of the principles I learned from your books were reviewed and emphasized. The eBook idea is awesome. Now a whole new generation of scrappers will benefit!
