Cathy Makes a Card 04: Out of this World

Cathy Makes a Card 04: Out of this World

cathyzielske.com
In the Adorable Stamp and Die Set categories, among the first of my purchases was Lawn Fawn’s Out of this World. I know what you’re thinking, “Cathy, that makes PERFECT sense for someone like you!” And yes, you’d be right. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love outer space. (I’m joking, you get that, right?)

But honestly? The set is so stinkin’ cute, how could I not? How. Could. I. Not?

The first card I made was so adorable I decided to make a second version and turn it into a tutorial. Please… enjoy!

The thing I find interesting is that you can use the exact same inks and get a different look every time. When I made this card the first time, it was much lighter because I was afraid of ink. Silly me. Those were the good old days! (Literally a month ago!) The second version? Much richer. I like ’em both!

One thing a few of you have been asking on Instagram is where I get the plastic sleeves to store my cards.

cathyzielske.com
I get them from Simon Says Stamp (and yes, I learned that they were a fun thing to have on hand from the Morpheus of Cards, Jennifer McGuire.

It is kind of cool to store a finished card and matching envelope in a sleeve and tuck it away for when you might need it.

Speaking of who will need a card, I have no idea who I will send this to. In fact, here’s the thing about me and cards right now: they don’t necessarily have intended recipients. Yes, the bonus is that I have cards ready when I need to send one, but right now, I’m just making for the sheer fun of making.

And that, my friends, feels pretty great.

You make my day!! When I watch your video’s it makes me think I TOO can be a card maker.

Can you please tell me what made you choose which items to buy? Whenever I go online to shop I just get so overwhelmed.

Melissa, honestly? It comes from watching YouTube card videos! lol. I see what other people are using, and I focus in on one thing (that Lawn Fawn Out of this World) and then proceed from there. Although, I should tell you, Tim Holtz is a friend of mine and he sent me a pack of Distress Inks, so I lucked out there!

Very cute!! I could even see this with the rocket attached with either a wobbler (so it wobbles) LOL or as a circle slider so that it orbits around the planet. That would be cool!!

I am thinking of getting some of the stitched dies. I know you linked it before but I could not find it. Which 2 sets would you recommend?

Debbie! I forgot to add those to the supplies. I added the link up top now! It’s the Large Stitched Rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn! The best! I use them ALL the time. And that is what i used for this project !

OK, so I replied the other day about trying cards TWICE, and it just not sticking as a hobby as much as I would have liked it to. But that Misti thing? This is the first I’ve seen it in action… I almost need to buy one and try a third time. And the die cuts go into a Sissix or something similar?

Yeah, that Misti? Game changer. It’s what is making stamping possible for me. And yes, the dies go into a Sizzix Big Shot, or any other die cut type of machine. I have the Big Shot! It’s linked above in my supplies. 🙂
