It’s my second week designing for Concord & 9th and today I have officially stepped into the world of shimmer and I may not go back. I’m just warning you!
Here are the new releases I started with:
Yes, so much unicorn goodness! Of course, I created a very minimal card because I’m still trying to learn all the Ways of the Card Maker and for me, simple is best!
I stamped my unicorn with Memento Ink and used some warm gray Copic markers along with some purples (see supplies at the bottom of the post!) to color her in. And yes, that shimmer you see? All courtesy of my Wink of Stella pen, baby! No mess shine!
I used the new Sunshine Turnabout stamp with Versamark Ink and Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing powder to create a subtle, tone on tone background for the top card panel, which I created using Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock and cut using one of my Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies. To cut out the circle, I used a Lawn Fawn Outside in circle die. I used the 110 lb Neenah for the card base and a large Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle for the card base panel.
I cut a simple circle from some Gina K Lovely Lavender cardstock, and get this: I covered it with shimmer mist! WHAT THE? Literally… WHO HAVE I BECOME?
I liked it so much, I sprayed some on the banner, too, to create a bit of visual repetition.
I die cut five “magic” words and five of the star dies, glued them all together and painted a bit more Wink of Stella on for more shimmer. I like how my unicorn is stepping out of the circle, kind of like me stepping out of my non-glitterized comfort zone.
This card stuff is ridiculously fun and crafty!

certified glitterphobe here…just ask my friends but I do love me some wink of stella shimmer. Love your card as always….keeping it minimalist yet there is so much to it.
Cathy Zielske says
Haha! Yeah, I’m still not going to whip out a pot of glitter, but that Shimmer Mist? Much like Wink of Stella, it’s a no mess shine! Who knew?
Janet says
Enabler here. Stickles!

Aw c’mon, Cathy. Tell us somebody else is using your name to create these awesome GLITTERY cards?! Seriously, what fun. A little shine never hurt anybody.

Such a pretty card Cathy! It almost makes me want to dive into the world of unicorns. Almost! I do like me a good shimmer mist though, and think that they should sell Wink of Stella pens in packs of five!!

never thought i’d write this, but, when are you gonna have card classes?
Cathy Zielske says
Lol! Well, we shall see! The fun news is that Online Card Classes invited me to contribute a lesson to their upcoming Rainbow Maker class! So I’m cutting my teeth on it!

Of all the cards I’ve seen you do, I think this is my favorite. I love the way your unicorn is jumping into the real world!

Wow, thanks Diane!

Rollicking good fun watching your Ikea venture! My inner organizer wants a trip to the Container Store right now, just to look mind you — and the newly opened Ikea is a short drive up I-7, but not sure I have your self-control. At either place. Really enjoy your organizing posts, and love the formerly dim corner!!
Terrie says
What a beautiful card! I love the unicorn, and all the shimmer 🙂
