Mama Elephant 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop

September 17, 2017

Mama Elephant 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop

Today I’m happy to be a part of the Mama Elephant 5th Anniversary Blog Hop! If you’ve arrived here from Nichol’s blog, hello and welcome! This is Day 3 of the 3-Day Stampede! (Find Day 1 and Day 2, respectively!)

I loved working with these new products! Mama Elephant was the very first set I ever bought and used Copic markers with (all the way back in the Spring!) And I have two posts (one here and one here) featuring my favorite stamp set, Party Animals! I’ve got a video to share of this card building process. Check it out and then check out all the details for the Hop!

In the video I’m sharing today, I created a watercolor background for my Yeti, but I ended up using the one I created off camera. I am so new to watercolors and have a lot to learn. (But oh, it is a fun trial and error!)

Enjoy my tutorial and be sure to read further down for all the details on the blog hop giveaway!

To celebrate this mega anniversary release, up for grabs are three $25 gift certificate to the ME store! That’s a total of 9 winners for the 3-day Stampede! Winners will be chosen at random from the collective blogs in the Stampede. Winners will be announced on the last day of Stamp Highlights. You have up to 4 chances to qualify to win!

Each action qualifies for one entry, max 4 entries per stampeder please!

We have so many amazing guest designers joining for for this Stampede. We are blessed with some amazing friends in the industry, so we are spreading the stampede into 3 days. 3 days of awesomeness! Here are today’s blog hop designers, make sure you ‘stampede’ your way through all of them and check out what they created with the newest products! See links to all the supplies I used below!

I love Kristina…she gives me hope that I can learn to do it! Isn’t it just so fun to play with colors this way? Why try to create shading in teeny tiny little spots when you can splodge paint down and let it blend? Cracking up about the embossing powder, too! I still struggle with it. I just had an idea this morning, dying to try it, only messed up half today! I have learned to always do multiples when embossing, and honestly, 50% messed up is a huge improvement. Thanks for your very entertaining video and a beautiful background.

You are the sole cause of my new stamp habit… my bank account does not thank you. However, I am all into the cutesie animals, no apologies necessary.

However, I also FULLY disagree when you say in the video “I am not Creative”. You are VERY creative in many different ways and have such a creative eye. I think self-deprecating is funny but I also think that you need to own your creativity. Have you read Big Magic by Liz Gilbert? You really must. It’ll stop you from saying you aren’t creative.

I wore a handmade dress yesterday and had so many compliments. And each time I full on said “Thanks, I made this” and did a little sashay or twirl. I owned the fact that I made the dress and it was extra fun to get lots of compliments. You should too!

Love your videos Cathy! I started stamping 30+ years ago and put it all away after I started scrapbooking (well ok maybe after I had kids). You inspired me to start again this summer. I’ve been slowly learning all the new techniques and getting all the new tools that make it so much easier. I am learning all the new coloring just like you. Thank you for the inspiration and no fear to learn a new way to do things!

Your card is lovely ! For me, watercolor is still a difficult technique, even if I watched a lot of videos too (It looks like we have the same “teachers”). I don’t feel confortable enough to use my background for my cards….. Yeti – LOL !

I had to create my own transparent grid for my Misti as the one I ordered from SSS was cut completely crooked. There is a PDF on My Sweet Petunia’s website.
