This month I’m honored to have been invited to be a guest designer for Neat & Tangled. This company was one of the very first stamp makers with whom I fell in love, all because of this card project from the one and only Laura Bassen. (This was my take on Laura’s awesome card!)
Today’s card is all about the awesome My Favorite sentiment. I love the big size and decided to use a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire to create a pretty Distress Ink background. The typography on the sentiment is just so great and I knew this would look fantastic stamped and embossed with white powder.
I used an acrylic block and some Distress Inks to create the background you see here. It’s a really fun and easy technique! Here’s my video for this card project that shows how I did it.
Such a fun, bright and happy card! I finished off the project by adding a few sequins (that part of the video got lost!)

That’s gorgeous! Thanks for the reminder about the ink smooshing. I used to do that years ago and haven’t in a long time. I love the effect.

Yeah, it’s a brand new thing to me! But I watched Jennifer’s video and she said it was an oldie but goodie! So much stuff to learn and try. I love card making because of this!

Ohhhhhhh, I LOVE IT!!! I did some cards like that along with Jennifer when the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero release came out last summer, and she featured the smooshing with a block technique to work with the MMH stamp sets. But I LOVE how that sentiment stamp fits in there so perfectly! It looks as though it’s made to be. As always, simple, gorgeous, and awesome, Cathy!

Thanks for posting, Kelli!

Love, love LOVE this beautifully colored card with some of my very favorite inks Cathy. I “copy” from Jennifer McGuire all the time too and, like you, love my salt cellar to keep my shammy happy. Thanks so much for sharing and for making me laugh. Every time. Have an awesome weekend! ~HUGS~
