Today I’m sharing two card projects featuring a word and shadow die set that I designed for Simon Says Stamp.
I really love the whole word die/shadow die combo! This particular die cuts out the love, Y, O and U as separate dies, and you ground them on the shadow layer. I kept my word die layer together, rather than cutting them apart!
I created a bright background using Distress Inks and some water color paper. I thought it made a cool pairing with the Debra cover plate style die that you see here. But as I was playing around with my ‘love you’ die, and trying out some different colors for the shadow die, I figured, why not make a second card?
The second card features the same word/shadow combo, but with a stamped background. Because I was using Gina K Designs cardstock for my shadow layers, I decided to grab a couple of my ink pads and try my hand at stamping without using my MISTI tool. (I know, stranger things have happened!)
If you are looking for some fantastic quality dye inks, check out Gina K Designs entire collection of colors. They stamp beautifully! I have all of her mini ink cubes and am slowing getting the larger pads of my most used colors. I did a post about Gina’s ink and cardstock recently when she released her 2018 new colors. I was so happy at how well all the images stamped for this second card and I place the glory fully on the inks!
Here is a video walking you through how I made these cards. Be sure to click over and watch on YouTube for the best viewing experience.
