Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

It’s blog hop time at Simon Says Stamp to celebrate the Friendly Frolic release! Today I have a card that is a little bit whimsical and little bit graphic.

You should know I am not an expert of watercolor by any stretch, and so today I’m using Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color in a huge, sketchy flower and combining that with my brand new Tabbed Sentiments for a cool look!

True story: I had NO idea the big yellow flower was actually a bud and foliage surrounding it until I saw someone else’s use of this set. I just thought it was a big-assed flower. So I guess you could say I kept it OVERLY simple!

    Your olive green “I don’t know what that thing is” is a Lotus Pod… usually brown, but I think it looks pretty in olive 🙂 I don’t think it matters if we paint things the correct color as long as we love the results and had fun during the process. You got a very graphic look from your style while others may go for a more realistic look. Both are beautiful, as well as everything in between. The point is to paint, have fun, and learn something new each time.

    So pretty! I’m so interested in learning how to stamp and color in like this, I’ve only done “regular” stamping so far. I’ll be retiring within the year and spending time learning this craft is high up there on my list! Trying to buy the supplies and learn the basic “how to’s” now.

    I really like the tab sayings set. Your card is wonderful even if you read the flower as one big thing instead of foliage and a flower bud. There wasn’t enough definition in the stamp to see what the artist intended.
