Hello and welcome to Day 1 of the Simon Says Stamp Rest and Refresh Blog hop! First things first: Simon is offering a decidedly summery ink pad, free with any purchase if you use the code in the graphic above (CRL898) at checkout! (While supplies last.)  So there’s that, now for my card project…

There are so many fun new releases and projects to inspire your summer crafting so let’s jump in! If this is your first time at my blog, welcome! I’m glad you stopped by!

The star of my card today is the Wild Flowers 6 x 8 stamp set.

This set features two large images of wildflowers and I thought they would be perfect for silhouette stamping with a deep black ink!

I have a video showing you how I created this card and the video includes one little mistake I’m including to remind you of one cardinal rule: always let Versafine Onyx Black ink dry completely. You’ll see what I mean!

Now onto the hop details…

HOP DETAILS: Simon Says Stamp is giving away a $25 store coupon at every stop along the blog hop! Visit all the hop blogs, leave a comment and increase your chances of winning! Winners will be announced on the Simon blog on June 12.  This is a two-day hop so be sure to check out Day 2 on Saturday, June 8! Here are today’s blog hoppers:

Love that clever sentiment! And thank you, Cathy, for showing mistakes. The videos are fantastic inspiration, but often my tries at techniques end in the recycle bin or sentiments move around as cover ups. Glad to know even the pros have boo boos?

Your card is beautiful and I love the background colors with the silhouette. As for the smudges, “been there and done that”, but thanks for the tip to create two panels. At worst, we’ll have one card and with any luck, two cards!

  9. #32

The wildflowers are so pretty, love the stamping in black against the distress oxide background!

Cathy, I was immediately drawn to the Wildflowers stamp, but wanted to see it used. WOW! You did it and convinced me I have to have this stamp in my stash! Thank you.

  11. #38

The card is absolutely stunning! I love the silhouette. It’s also nice to know that designers can make mistakes, just like us “little people”.

Cathy, that is a fabulous card! I just love the colours you used & the black just about jumps off the page. I usually stamp with Memento ink, but the times I’ve used VersaFine I’ve made the mistake of not remembering it has to dry & smudged. Making two card panels is a good idea. Thanks for participating & inspiring us!

I adore that sentiment!! That’s the whole reason I’m getting this stamp set! I love everything you design.

  15. #47

Beautiful card!!! I also love to get very black stamped images…stamping once or twice doesn’t do it all the time! I am so very close to getting one/two of the misti’s based on all of your videos! I’m curious though…since cost is a bit of a factor…if we can only get one…would you go for the small or medium one? I think I’d like the ability to do slightly larger things with the medium one…but the small just seems so handy and easy to move around my work space. Thanks again for sharing your fabulous projects!!

Very nice silhouette stamp. This is one of the products in the new release that caught my eye. I think that is a good idea to try out a card idea before filming. It allows one to be familiar with the process. But I have not made a card video in a long time. I am thinking about it, just need to put my heart into it.
