Today I’m sharing the video for my second installment of New Stamps, Now What? series on YouTube!
The stamp being featured today? The Folk Heart Background cling stamp.
As soon as I saw this I thought two things: 1) This is a gorgeous stamp, and 2) There is no way I can paint or color in those images. Enter the easy technique of emboss resist!
Every time I have a stamp that might seem complicated, this is my go to approach. I’m pretty sure that if I create a pretty background, I can find some other stamps to finish it out.
Here is the video walking you through my process in real time (edited slightly to cut out where I could!)
Remember friends, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel with every project! Tried and true techniques… the ones you know will work? Those are always a great starting place with any new stamp!
Note: I did use an older sentiment set and the coordinating dies to add the happy birthday, but… hopefully this video does give you some insight into making some of those design decisions to help you create something you will love!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Yup! Buy all those pretty background stamps and then never seem to take them out of the package. Now I have some inspiration. Thank you.

Great video Cathy–I don’t comment as I watch this on my TV screen vs computer, TV isn’t hooked up to a keyboard. I love watching your process and how you test out stuff. I do the same, so it makes me realize I do the proper steps.

The card is beautiful. To tie the whole card together, I think there should have been an 8th inch black border around the background stamp.
