Copic coloring stresses me out.
As much as I like to think it doesn’t, the fact is, it does. So, I am trying to practice more and stress less. And I want to give you a free download to do the same!
Print your PDF onto 8olb cover weight cardstock using an inkjet printer and practice away. My video will help you to see how I’m using these sheets, plus I’ll show you the card project I created!
I will never be a Copic Matisse, but I’m still showing up and getting a tiny bit better with every go!
In other news, it’s new release day at Simon Says Stamp! Wanna see what’s new in the CZ Design line?
My video today was inspired by my brand new Let’s Connect stamps:

You did it again, a wonderful tutorial video that walked the viewer through pushing past anxiety of coloring. I watched many videos and I would scroll through many blogs with excellent colorists…thinking I will NEVER be able to create that beauty, but ya know what, practice was the saving grace. Also, a wonderful video that Sandy Allnock created years ago, where she said she gets so many comments from viewers that said, “I will never be able to color like you”, and her words in response was STOP saying you can’t and putting “defeat” before you “try”. Those word struck me to my core. Like you I had the markers, they look so pretty on my shelf. Then one day I pulled out some markers, set them on my table, grabbed some stamped images, pulled the caps off and to my surprise I didn’t hear the pens snickering at me, nope they wanted to be free and play along. Practice, patience and no more “can’t”, because we craft for the love and enjoyment. So, thank you Cathy for making this video and bonus a free coloring sheet download to assist in the process, so generous of you. I hope your video gives the courage to many to give it a try and just find the joy in coloring. Big shout out to Sandy Allnock for giving me the courage and the joy of creating my own little masterpieces! Color on my friends, color on.

Thanks Cathy for the coloring practice sheets and another great video. It’s so nice to learn that others struggle, even the pro’s like you! Thanks for being real with us, making us all feel better and we need to learn to play as adults and go with the flow. I love your new stamp/dies sets with SSS!

Can I tell you how cute you are? I LOVE this new set and thank you for the free practice sheets!! I have been coloring for years and still don’t feel like I am a master. That said, I am not patient to sit and color for long periods of time. Thank you for the video. Off to watch it!

I love your card and I agree with you on the coloring. After years of crafting, I have to go back and learn how to color! I liked the pastel animals and thought that would be cute on a baby card. Thank you.

Copic coloring is my favorite way to color! It’s so quick and relatively easy. Well, provided I have a clear marker handy to corral the leaking edges. (Wandering leaks?) I DO need to maybe practice using the Zig markers. I have them but I don’t really use them. It just seems so much harder. I also rarely use colored pencils with mineral spirits – typically if I stamp on a white card base because the Copic coloring shows on the inside.
I took the Online Card Class for Copic Coloring and found that to be very informative. 🙂 Although I’m still not good with coloring hair. The highlights using “white space” are kind of hard for me. I guess that’s what I need to PRACTICE!

Awesome set you’ve designed. To hear you say the words it’s not relaxing colour with copics, is music to my ears. Every time I pick a marker up my inner voice says now what you going to mess up ? When it comes to coloured pencils there is no stopping me, it’s getting that way with watercolours too but copics scare me to pieces. Off to print many many of your welcome sheets, thank you x Stay safe, happy & healthy x

How cute! Thanks for sharing your Copic experience. I’ve been struggling as well but I think part of my struggle has been that the very first project I tackled was a very large pickup truck stamp, (just the back of the truck) from Honeybee. I am now on my fifth image and finally coming up with something half decent. Maybe it just takes practice and maybe some of the problem is trying to blend a very large area for a first time copic user. Your tutorial was helpful and encouraging letting me know I’ not the only one and especially because you make such beautiful cards. Im determined to do this till I figure it out and your tutorial was very encouraging! Thank you!
