Today I’ve got a short video about Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers. I’ve had my eye on these for a while and received a few pens a while back, which prompted me to get my hands on more.

The thing that is cool about these markers is that there are three ink colors in each one, and the price per pen is currently around $5. For folks who want to try out an alcohol marker, this is a great price for three colors of ink. Plus, they are colors that go together, taking some of the blending guesswork out of the process.
Today I’m sharing a video as well as a free printable swatch chart. The chart includes two pages: one has the Tri-Blend title at the top; the second chart is blank so you could use it for anything you like.
Click on the image below to download the chart for free: Note: this is a zipped file which will need to be unzipped if if doesn’t automatically open. You will find it most likely where your downloads show up.
To use this chart, I recommend printing with an ink jet printer (your ink will not smear the black outlines with alcohol markers) and using a good quality cardstock. I used 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.
Here’s my video showing the unboxing and swatching:
Long story short: these markers are a terrific value, plus they come with bullet nibs which for me personally make coloring a lot easier. I’m presently spending more money on each of my Copic markers to replace the chisel nibs with bullet nibs, so I appreciate markers that already have them in place.
One of the downsides is that Spectrum Noir does not recommend you refill these markers (though it says it can be done with care on their website!), but if I’m being honest, I haven’t refilled a single Copic marker in almost four years, and for the price of the Tri-Blends, this, for me, is an non-issue.
Thanks for stopping by today!

I purchased a set of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers years ago when they reintroduced them. My hands have become very arthritic and I’m no longer able to uncap them. Are these markers easier to uncap and recap? Thanks so much.
Cathy Zielske says
Hey Jo, I do not find these difficult to uncap. I do not have arthritis, however, I do have carpal tunnel like wrist issues that are fairly chronic from years of working as a graphic designer.

Thank you for the download. I will use this with my laser printer as it doesn’t smear when left to dry for a time. I use Spectrum Noir markers all of the time in the older 3-stack configuration. I like the newer ones as there are more colors available. Hopefully the nib does not separate from the barrel when lifting the lid off, as some of mine do. They are fun to use and easy to color with. Thanks for the info!
