For over 20 years, I crafted and even started a YouTube channel in my dining room. You all came to know it as the craft/dining room. It was a good place to create, but there were limits.

The limits became more obvious as my hubby became an elementary school teacher and had summers off. It’s hard to create for a YouTube channel when you have to ask people to, ahem, keep it down. So, last fall, I decided to combine my work space with my craft space, and see how it would shake out. In fact, you can watch a little behind the scenes story here.
This was my original sketch for the room:

Once I had the general gist, it was time to go to town. And to town I went.

Today, I’m sharing a video to show you how the space works. I’m actually shocked at how much I like creating, editing and designing all in the same room. I am still a graphic designer who works for Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine, as well as for Simon Says Stamp, in addition to my card making on YouTube. Here is the video and my supply list is VERY long and you can find it below the video. I created the list in the order the items appear in the video. Not everything could be sourced but it’s there as a resource for you if any of these ideas spark and idea for your own space!
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments on this post or over on YouTube and I’ll do my best to answer!

Because this is also where I film tutorials and edit them, half of the room is devoted to all of my cameras, computers, and other equipment. But I love having everything in one place for this part of my work.

I am grateful to have a space to create it, whether it’s a dining room, or a small room in my house that clearly does not have enough outlets. The only addition that’s coming to the space is a mini split AC unit (a ductless system) because mama needs a cooler place to create!
The supplies are listed in the order in which they appear in the video!

Cathy, thanks for the great tour and your massive list of items. I can only dream of most of the organization as they do not ship to New Zealand!! I met you when you came out to do Crafting Connection many years ago with Ali and Donna. I assisted in your classes as I worked for David at Kiwiscraps. I have continued to follow you ever since.
Keep up the great work! Meanwhile I’ll dream of improving my craft room lol.

Thanks for sharing your craftroom. Loved seeing all of your solutions for “messy”. And even more for the sources of where purchase items to make it happen. Your room is wonderful. You have inspired me to do the same. Thanks again.

Cathy, will the Tim Holtz Watercolor Pencils fit in the pencil caddy? Also, do you just take the pink tape out of the plastic dispenser and put it in your pink tape holder? Thanks so much for sharing all your storage ideas and your space with us.

Cathy, I love the tour of your craft room! Wish I had that nice place to stamp! Can you tell me what folders you had your stamps in that were located in the closet?
