Today I am unboxing the latest card kit from Simon Says Stamp for February 2025 called Distressed Vintage Notes. If you ever thought you weren’t a vintage-y card maker, I hope to inspire you to change your mind! Also? The pack of ephemera in this kit is in a word, ginormous!
First things first, let’s get into the unboxing and makes video:
I seriously am surprised at how fun this kit was to work with. CZ does vintage? WHO KNEW?
Also something I did not know when I made my video? TIM HOLTZ designed the stamp set? WHAT? Oh, Tim! You are the best.
Let’s take a look at all the cards, even the one I didn’t include the make for. 😂
The thing that I love about this ephemera pack is how many different elements you can use to make the simplest of cards! I could make so many cards just like this, and just got with a basic color theme, based on the tones in the ephemera. SO easy.
For card two, I continued the monochromatic approach but added some background texture using the stamp set. I also love that the “Adored and Loved” stamp looks like it was already on the piece of ephemera.
Card three might just be my favorite of the day. It started out as “where the heck is this even going?” and ended up to be a lovely example of how repetition in design can make your cards look fabulous. Also? VersaFine Clair in Nocturne is a fabulous pigment ink.
For card four, hello Distress Collage Medium! I had no idea this could be so fun to work with. I absolutely love how this card came out.
Seriously. I loved how that turned out!
For card five, I went back to a simple layering of ephemera. Again, I love how you can use vintage pieces in a clean and simple way.
And the bonus card, well… I just didn’t love how it looked in the end, but it’s not horrible. It’s just a bit gothic and vampire-y. 😂
All in all, I really loved working with this kid and I’m very surprised because I don’t think of myself as a vintage type card maker. I hope this shows you how you can take any type of style that might not be yours and play with it and create something that feels like you, but just a little bit vintage-y!
